Attorney Holmes reported that after reviewing the electric bids with superintendent Bolze. they found that three of the bids are within $20,(XX).00 of each other, with the lowest quote being Mid American Utility Contractor's of $7b,b36 80. Their recommendation, subject to the engineer's review and approval, checking references and their ability to complete the job on time would be to tentatively award the bid to Mid America. Len Jaske made the motion to tentatively accept Mid American's bid. Seconded by Walt Heil. Carried. Bozle and a representative of Spectrum Engineering are going to review the bids. President Rizek told attorney Holmes, that while he was in the other room, they opened the police car bids and were not satisfied that they were high enough. Seconded by Gene Reese. Carried. He will need to buy the blade separately, after getting quotes. Len Jaske made the motion to allow Bolze to purchase the best blade at the best price. Seconded by Gene Reese. Carried. Bolze reported on some of the new OSHA rules for linemen. Bolze said that he has sent eight pairs of rubber gloves in for testing, all of them have been rejected, and he has some new rubber gloves on order. Bolze reported that OSHA has classified linemen’s clothing as safety equipment. He asked is this clothing has to come out of their clothing allowance since it is now considered safety equipment. Attorney Holmes said that the Town will have to pay the initial costs to outfit the linemen, and then they will have to buy replacements from their clothing allowance. Bolze is going to get quotes for the clothing for the next meeting. Bozle reported on a couple of items for the Water Department. He reported that the new switch for the generator at the water plant has been installed. Bolze and Terry Baugher have completed the water pressure study, and Baugher is now entering the information into his computer. The new windows have also been installed at the water plant.
