FIRST THINGS FIRST: With each new season comes a new assault by the scam artists and others who scheme to do you out of your money. Fall usually brings out the phoney chimney and furnace inspectors and other varieties of villains including those who will try to tell you that your house needs new siding, that your driveway will give way under the first snow if you don't have it fixed (by them, of course) etc One of the more common gimmicks involves workmen turning up with various building materials, or carpeting they claim are left over from another job and rather than return to homebase with it, they’ll let you allow them to lay carpet, or resurface your driveway, or paint your garage, etc., at a much lower rate What usually happens is the work is shoddy and left incomplete (after you’ve paid up front, of course) and you now have either to redo it or live with the sorry results, while you tote up your financial losses ON A MUCH LIGHTER vein, let's talk about laughter Dr Rosan gela Boyd of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, says, “Humor is one of the secrets to adapting positively to aging " Allud ing to seniors in long term care facilities. Professor Boyd said, “Laughing with others is away to establish the social Ixinds which be come powerful waystocopc with all of the physical and psychological difficulties that characterize life in these facilities."
