Community Club Has First Meeting Os The Season The ladies of the GFWC Walkerton Woman’s Community Cub met at the Walkerton Community Building on Friday, September 16th. The meeting was opened by president Barabara Simpson and treasurer Janet Bierly presented the budget for 1994-95. The club yearbooks were not ready for distribution but will be by the next meeting. Dues for the new club year were collected by the treasurer, assisted by Mildred McKesson who was filling in as secretary in the absence of Shirley Awald who was unable to attend the meeting. Dorothy Dolmer, Sunshine chairman, read letters of thanks from members to whom she had sent cards of sympathy over an illness or congratulations for a birthday. Among items briefly discussed was the removal of a tree planted by the members some years ago and is now missing from the lawn; and the president read a letter from the Park Board of Directors informing the Cub that they might have to start charging rent for the building. The president read a reply she had sent to the Board informing them of the many things the Cub had done over the years to improve the building and furnish it; also the benefits that the Walkerton community has received from the Cub. Nadine Keiper gave a report on the GFWC/IFC Convention in Indianapolis in May which she and the president had attended. President Simpson showed the Cub the award they had received at the convention. It was in appreciation for the club’s help in the Endowment Fund Drive. She also read a letter the Cub had received from Governor and Mrs. Bayh, thanking them for their help in the campaign
