31 coming home from Indianapolis last Sunday and their’s sure didn’t tast like her’s. 1 saw them making them Sunday at the festival in Rochester and I never saw so many large trays of apple dumplings. One man told me they sold over 1200 in three hours on Saturday. 1 would say that was a lot of apple dumplings but their’s sure did look good, but I was too full of other good stuff to taste one. Ruby Salyer, of Teegarden, who has had a quilt show for the past good many years, is not having one this year but is having an auction extravaganza on Saturday, September 24 as she is known for her House of Quilting. She will be selling quilts, comforters, baby quilts, baby grand piano, appliances, furniture, antique dishes, button collection and lots of other goodies. So plan to go, sale starts at 9:30 on Saturday. P.S. She is not moving. Our sympathy this week goes to Maxie Schieber and family in the loss of her husband. Raymond, and also to Nevin Clark in the loss of his wife, Deborah Clark. On Saturday night, the famous Tyner 1.0.0. F. Lodge is again having another fish fry at the Tyner Fire Station. ■ DOUBLE COUPONS 7 DAn a
spent Sunday at the Trail of Courage Living History Festival near Rochester. While there they met several other families from North Liberty as the place was packed. There were Indians all over the place selling their merchandise, some entertaining, making all kinds of things and the food booths were something else. So much to taste and try . The carme! popcorn popped in a big iron kettle was delicious and so was the ham and beans cooked in an iron kettle. Thousands attended during Saturday and Sunday and the weather was great. About 175 met Tuesday noon at the Pine Creek Church where they all enjoyed a delicious dinner cooked and served by the ladies of the church. Before the dinner Gladys Sheneman introduced the first time visitors, Betty Rodgers, of Mishawaka, and Howard and Joan Bugl, of South Bend. Several were celebrating September birthdays and one 46th wedding anniversary. Please remember the following, Lola Pavey, Flora Hough, Mid Devos, Martha McCrosky, Harry Truax, Beatrice Roush and Nina Goon who is now in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw, since falling and breaking her hip. We were all so glad to see Louise White back after being absent for two months from suffering a stroke. So please send them a card and remember them in your prayers. The secretary’s report was given by Evelyn Dolph. A funny poem entitled 'Who Me?’ was read by the president after which the noon prayer was given by Wilbur Stump. A big thanks goes to the men and women of the church who make this day of fellowship all possible each month. All enjoyed the Bremen Senior Citizen Choir who entertained in the afternoon. Orville and Marian Buss have sold their home in LaPaz, and are now at home in Bremen. We all

wisn mem wen ana nope tney win be able to attend our retired neighbors and friends dinner at Pine Creek in October and November. Please remember Eldon Clark as he is now home recovering from knee surgery. 1 received a nice letter from Lorraine Pointon, formerly of Walkerton, who now lives in Nashville, Arkansas. She told me she was recovering from a stroke back in July 1993 but now she drives a car and is improving everyday. Her husband is working at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfeesboro, Arkansas. She writes a column once a month for her Home Ec. club. She says they miss everybody and their kids are scattered all over the country. Lorraine says there is lots of deer and are looking forward to some friends from Walkerton coming down during the deer hunting season and to look for diamonds as it is the only diamond mine in the world where you can keep all you find. So far this year over 1,000 has been found. Thanks for writing, Lorraine, and I’m so happy that you enjoy reading my news.
