birthdays also. Mary told me that there is a Jill in Texas that get the Independent-News and calls her neice, Marsha, and tells her about her family. Marguerite O’Connor and Carol Carbiener, of North Liberty, were among the 47 on the American Dream Tour bus last Wednesday that visited many interesting places in Michigan. They toured the Jiffy Bakery in Chelsea, caught a fish at the trout farm at Spring Valley and all got to eat them for lunch. They also visited Raker's Acres at Richmond and saw them at work in their five green houses. Do you remember the days when family life revolved around the kitchen table, when lessons of life were taught and remembered around the old kitchen table? Well, I certainly do, as we always ate breakfast, dinner and supper together. Not so today! Many skip breakfast, eat a sandwich on the run at noon and eat what they call dinner in the living room while watching the 6:00 news on TV. They off the family goes in all directions to a school or church meeting, football game or you name it. What a life today to live, so different from when I was a kid growing up. Our table, like our home, instilled in us the worth of the individual and the gift of love for each other.
