Library Summer Reading Program Is A Success “Reading Is A Magic Trip", the summer reading program at the Walkerton-Lincoln Twp. Public Library, was a great success this year. The children were challenged to read at least 20 books (or 12 for the older children) to finish the program. A total of 107 children joined and 73 of those went on to finish — some children even read more than 20 books. One young reader, Stephanie Hawkins, read over 100 books. The theme of the program was “Reading Is A Magic Trip" — based on the Magic School Bus HESTERS CABIN BED 4 BREAKFAST nt! >l^o Pttceful Night Or Weekend In Our 1830 Restored Log House (Reservations Only) 71880 St. Rd. 23, Walkerton

books by Johanna Cole. Younger children received prizes for every five books they read, while the older ones, with longer books, got their prizes for every three books read. The program was put together by the American Library Association with the help of McDonald’s Restaurants. The ALA provided the ideas, and McDonald's Corporation provided for free stickers, bookmarks and reading logs with the Magic School Bus on them. Locally American Roller, Charles O. Hiler & Sons, Plas/ Steel, Premdor, Metal Building Maintenance and Thermal Seal donated, helping the Library to purchase prizes for children to pick out of the Magic Bus. The LaPaz McDonald’s Restaurant was very helpful by donating free cheeseburgers for the children’s first prizes, and on August sth, 6th and 12th, they catered parties for the 73 children who finished the summer reading program. These companies deserve a big thank you! The Library would like to recognize all the children who helped make summer reading a success. Let them know they did a wonderful job I Andrea Landesman Samantha Weeks Marisa Rivosecchi Alicia McVay Heather Johnson
