HELEN M. LAFEBER Helen M. LaFeber, 85, of Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton, formerly of 604 Van Buren St., died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in the nursing home. She was born June 5, 1909, in Plymouth and lived in Walkerton since 1913, coming from Plymouth. As Helen M. Lidecker, on February 13, 1932, in South Bend, she married Ralph N. "Nick" LaFeber, who died February 28, 1978. Surviving are a son, Walter F. of Ithaca, New York; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Norma Dill, of Walkerton, and Beatrice Jack of Hamlet. Mrs. LaFeber was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Women's Community Gub and was a graduate of LaPorte Business School. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday in the church. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or any charity. JULIA A. MALSTAFF Julia A. Malstaff, 85, of 33618 Towle Road, Walkerton, died at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday in LaPorte Hospital. She was born July 5, 1909, in South Bend and had lived in Walkerton for 56 years coming from South Bend. On July 20, 1938, in South Bend, as Julia A. Coddens, she married Peter Joseph Malstaff, who died September 8, 1988. Surviving air a daughter, Judy Martin, of Walkerton; two sons. Lynn of LaPorte and Michael of Walkerton; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edmund Coddens of Mishawaka. Mrs. Malstaff was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Walkerton. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Church. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. The Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity. CHARLES L. CRISS Charles L. Criss, 66, of County Road 11060 East and 875 North, Walkerton, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday at his home after an illness. He was born May 15, 1928, in Garksburg, West Virginia. On December 15, 1984, in Plymouth, he married Dorothy L. Baker, who survives. Mr. Criss retired from Conrail. Also surviving are six stepdaughters, Michelle Stoneburger of Ohio, Charleen Vickers of West Virginia, Brenda Weil of Mishawaka. Sherline Baker of Tyner, Cynthia Back of Texas and Frances Deland of South Carolina; three

stepsons, Carl and David Wright, both of Kentucky, and Rick Baker of Florida; 21 step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Criss was a member of LaPorte American Legion Post 83 and was a World War II Army veteran. Services were held at 11:00 a m. Monday in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial followed in Grovertown Cemetery. SUSIE P. TETER Susie P. Teter, 78, of Milbum Street, Mishawaka, died at 12:10 p.m. Saturday in Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton. She was boro January 12, 1916, in Marshall County, living in Mishawaka since 1940 coming from Marshall County, On March 9, 1940, in Walkerton, as Susie P. Thayer, she married Donald Teter, who died March 7, 1987. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth of South Bend and Ronald C. of Reo Rancho, New Mexico; two grandchildren; two great-granddaugh-ters; and two sisters, Gladys Sheneman of North Liberty and Evelyn Stonebumer of Plymouth. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. CLARENCE LEVI MILLER Garence Levi Miller, 92, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, died Monday at 10:25 a.m. at the Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was boro February 27, 1902, in Lakeville and had been a resident of the nursing home since July, 1993. Mr. Miller was a laborer and supervised an apple orchard in Sunnyside, Washington. He is survived by four sisters; and 20 nieces and nephews. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 11:00 .a.m. Wednesday in the Nus-baum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, with Rev. D. 0. Van Dyne, pastor of the Walkerton Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Memorial contributions may be given to the Kidney Foundation.
