He recently succeeded Pastor Russell Payne who has moved to minister in Virginia. The Walkerton Ministerial Association members are glad to have Pastor Smith joining, bringing a rich faith, good ideas and fruitful experience from previous ministerial associations. Future plans of the Walkerton Ministerial Association include a Community Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service planned for November 20, 6:00 p.m. at the Wesleyan Church. Father Michael Winkowski of St. Patrick Parish will be preaching. Planning some kind of coming together as a community of faith is in the works for Christian Unity Week, January 18-25, 1995. Father Winkowski discussed a new program to be introduced to the Walkerton area, called Rainbows. It is designed to help young kids in dealing with divorce and death. Anyone interested in serving as a volunteer facilitator can contact him at 586-7404. Pastor Ron Hawkins agreed to explore the idea of starting a Community Christian Singles Group.
