SPRINT/UNITED TELEPHONE UNVEILS I.V.R. Sprint/United Telephone will offer a free service that will give its Indiana customers easier access to their account information. On August 29, Sprint/United Telephone will begin using Interactive Voice Response (IVR), a recorded voice response system that allows Sprint/United Telephone customers to call the phone company’s business office and obtain information on their total amount due and long distance charges accumulated since their last bill. The information will be available nearly anytime, day or night, except Sunday. said Renea Collins, IVR product manager. The IVR system, while offering billing information at first, will be expanded later to allow customers to add calling features like popular Call Waiting, order new telephone service and equipment, and request repair, Collins said. “Customers will use the threedigit customer code listed after their phone number on their bill to give them easy access to billing information,’’ said Collins, adding that customers can still talk to a Sprint/United consultant by pressing 0 after entering the IVR system. Customers can bypass IVR anytime when they are using the new system if they would like to talk with a sales/service consultant.
