Brian Hall was the overall men's winner in a time of 19:09.3. On Saturday, August 13, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Nowakowski, Koontz Lake, attended the wedding of their granddaughter, Holly Elaine, daughter of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Nowakowski, of South Holland, Illinois. The groom, Frank Walter, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Weincek, of Chicago, Illinois. A double ring ceremony was held at 3:00 p.m. with Holy Mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church in South Holland. A reception was held at Johnson-Phelps V.F.W. Hall, in Oak Lawn, Illinois. The newlywed couple will make their home in Glenwood, Illinois. Bill and Beth Carter of Walkerton, were honored with a surprise 40th anniversary party on August 7, hosted by their three daughters, Susan Adams, of South Bend; Laura Chase, of Auburn, Indiana; and Lynn Millikan, of Houston, Texas; and Bill’s mother, Mrs. Lorena Carter, of Walkerton. About 70 friends and family members attended, including their 12 grandchildren. Mrs. Janice Shultz, of Chesterfield, Missouri, spent Friday and over night with Vi Masterman.
