V.B.S. To Feature Evangelist And Mrs. Bobby Brown Evangelist Bobby Brown and wife are coming to Walkerton to conduct a Vacation Bible School Campaign in The First Baptist Church, August 14th through 19th. The special meeting was announed by the church’s pastor, D. O. Van Dyne, who stated the services would start each night at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., and 7:00 p.m. Sunday. The church is located at Maine and Clark Streets, Walkerton. The Browns are graduates of Tennessee Temple University in Chattanoogoa. Bobby has pastored for 12 of the 44 years he has been in the ministry. He organized the First Baptist Church of Alsip, just outside of Chicago, in 1966, and led the church in a building program and to support 41 missionaries before leaving to enter evangelism. Brown started the church in a barn and enjoyed a fruitful ten year ministry there. The evangelist has conducted services in over 1700 churches and schools. He speaks to thousands of teens annually. Since 1983 he and his wife have been involved in missionary evangelist, ministering to U.S. military personnel and national churches in Europe. They participate in this endeavor three months each year. Gretchen is a talented musician and an accomplished pianist. She taught at Tennessee Temple University for 11 years. Mrs. Brown has spoken in retreats and women’s meetings at home and abroad. The Browns, who have several recordings, will present special music in every service. The Vacation Bible School will appeal to the whole family. “Brother Boy”, as he is affectionately known by boys and girls, will use ventriloquism during each service to minister to the children. The Lord has blessed this ministry in a wonderful way. Three will be classes for ages 4 thru high school. There is no fee, but a free-will offering is received daily. Everyone is invited. For more information, call 5863753 or 586-3690. “DAYSPRING’’ TO PRESENT CONCERT AT NORTH LIBERTY CHURCH AUG. II The musical ensemble “Dayspring” from Lincoln Christian College, will be presenting a concert Thursday, August 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the North Liberty Church of Christ, 65225 State Road 23, North Liberty. The 16-member musical-drama ensemble is in the midst of an eight week summer tour, performing in churches, Christian service camps, youth conferences and conventions. The concert program includes a variety of traditional hymns, choruses and contemporary' works. Located in Lincoln, Illinois, Lincoln Christian College and Seminary is devoted to the training and education of preachers, Christian teachers, and other Christian workers who will know the Christ and be able to present the Christ to their generation. The community is invited to come and share in this evening of music and praise.

MARG A. M. NICE Marci Ann Marie Nice, 36, of 3722 Thorn Road, Walkerton, died Monday, July 25, in a construction accident at Lowe’s, Mishawaka. She was employed by Reith-Riley Construction Co., South Bend, for six years. She was born January 27, 1958, in Manistee, Michigan. She was a member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Salt City Chapter 43, Manistee, and Laborers Union Local 645, South Bend. IK-JI w Surviving are a sister, Elaine Pieczynski, of East Lake, Michigan; three brothers, Leo Nice, of Grand Rapids, George Nice, Jr., of Pontiac, Michigan, an of Jackson, Michigan. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, in Saint Mary’s of Mount Carmel Shrine, Manistee, Michigan. Burial was in Mount Cannel Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in North Liberty at the V.F. W. Post 1954, Saturday, August 6, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the North Liberty V.F.W. Post 1954. Sam Oliver, with Hospice, will give a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Any contributions will go to the family. EVELYN K. NORRIS Evelyn K. Norris, 69, of 10507 E. Iroquois Road, Walkerton (Koontz Lake), died about 5:12 p.m. Friday in LaPorte Hospital of an illness. She was born January 25,1925, in Francesville. In 1952, in Walkerton, she married Raymond Norris, who survives. Mrs. Norris was employed at Berkel Corp., LaPorte, as a machine operator. Also surviving are a daughter, Beverly Fraine, of Koontz Lake; a son, John, of Koontz Lake; four grandchildren; five step-grand-children; a sister, Betty Daugherty, of Haines City, Florida; and two brothers, Kenneth Ricks, of Rochester, and Earnest “Bud” Ricks of Walkerton. A stepson, William O. Norris, preceded her in death. Mrs. Norris was a member of the Walkerton Presbyterian Church and Knox Golden Horseshoe Saddle Club. She served as Democratic precinct vice committeewoman of Oregon Township for many years. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial was in Grovertown Cemetery. RUTH I. AWALD Ruth I. Awald, 76, of 7804 Tecumseh Road (Koontz Lake) Walkerton, died at 12:20 a.m. Monday in Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso after an illness. She was born April 13,1918, in Chicago and had lived in the Koontz Lake area most of her life. On July 25, 1936, in Valparaiso, she married Clarence Awald, who survives. Mrs. Awald was a cook at Y-Go-By Restaurant. Also surviving are six daughters, Sue Jones, of Calais, Vermont, Sally Long, of Valparaiso, Linda Van Dyke, of Winamac, Janet Taylor and Terri Awald, both of Koontz Lake, and Nancy Noble, of Hamlet; four sons, James, of Walkerton, Richard, of Koontz Lake, Ralph, of Chesterton, and
Harold, of Grovertown; 24 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchild-ren. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial was in Grovertown Cemetery. * IN MEMORY In memory of our dad, Roger Spier, Sr., who left us on August 11,1988. Brian and Kim Kaser, of Etna Green, Indiana, are the parents of a baby boy, Cole Douglas Kaser. He weighed five pounds, 13 ounces, born July 30, 1994. Grandparents are Doug and Myra Kaser of North Liberty and Ray and Pat Holmquist of Walkerton. A daughter was born on Tuesday, July 26, to Kay Walker and Andy Baugher. She weighed five pounds, 15 ounces and was 19‘/j inches long. She has been named Shelby Nicole. Grandparents are Bertha and Gene Walker, and Ruth Ann and Roy Baugher, all of Walkerton.
