Well, I must tell you that I am still celebrating my 80th birthday. I have received over 100 beautiful cards. Thanks to Deloris Pippenger who had a card shower on me by the retired neighbors and friends who meet the first Tuesday of every month at the Pine Creek Church. On July 13, Wednesday morning, my telephone rang at 7:00 and Kenneth and Martha Lemert was on the phone singing happy birthday from Wisconsin.
What a thrill to hear them sing. Then one after another called and sang the same song. Then I have been taken out to eat most every day by friends, but this has got to stop or I will have to buy all new clothes. Well, it has sure been great to be remembered by so many wonderful friends. Even my cousin, Marjorie (Dunn) Rook called me from Chicago. And I received cards from Michigan, Illinois and other Indiana towns telling me how much they look forward to reading my news so that also made me feel good and I’m thankful I still have my eye sight and able to write the news for you. I will continue as long as the Lord keeps me in good health. Thanks to everyone who helped me celebrate my 80th birthday. I love you and God bless you. How many of you remember the old cream separator? Wasn’t that a wonderful thing when it would separate the cream from the milk and was that cream tasty? Not so today. 1 wonder how they get one percent milk, two percent milk and whole milk vitamin D. I would like to see them process them, wouldn’t you? We even has a water separator when I was a kid at home. You never hear of these things anymore, but I will never forget having to wash them and how I hated that job. Katie and Emily Rose, of Dorr, Michigan, are visiting their grandparents, Marge and Roger Kronk. Joe and Stephanie Baran, Sean and Caitlin, of Denver, Colorado, have been visiting Kim and Claudia Stuber and daughters. Goldie Skinner was honored last Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Walkerton as she has been so active all her Ute and has had to retire from sending out the church builetings, overseeing funeral dinners, getting ushers and doing so many other things. Harold Williams, a former pastor, sent her a letter and poem and they framed it for her. Her two grandsons, Herald and Gerald sang “Amazing Grace’’ and Ann Miller sang “He Touched Me”. The family enjoyed dinner at the Fish Lake Inn. Please remember Goldie, she will be 90 on September 13th, as she needs our prayers at this time.
