many lovely graduation gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Roser attended graduation program last Saturday where they saw their greatgrandson, Dan Roser, graduate at the Oregon-Davis High School. Two well known bus drivers of the North Liberty area will be retiring from driving a school bus for many years. They are Paul Anderson, 43 years, and Herb Anderson, 44 years. No doubt, many of you who read my news has rode on their bus down through the years. They will be honored by the other bus drivers on Monday morning at the John Glenn School and each will receive a plaque in memory of a job well done. So best wishes to both of you upon your retirement as bus drivers from all your many friends you have made down through the years. The Treasure Chest Thrift Store will be celebrating its 15th anniversary on June 9, 10 and 11th when they will give the first 60 customers a flower. And lam told everything in the store will be on sale for 15 cents. Be sure to stop in. They will be serving punch and cookies on Thursday and Friday. They are open Tuesday thru Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturday, 9:00 a.m. til noon. In the last 15 years they have contributed $95,820 to missions and helped many local families in need. They would like to thank all who have donated good used clothing and household items and helped keep them in business for 15 years. Bill and Ruth Bauman, of Florida, are here visiting relatives and friends during the month of June. Carl Zimmerle is busy putting new siding on his house with the help of his sons, Gary and Barry. The Bopes, who live next door to them are beautifying their place by putting in new shrubbery all around the house. Mr. and Mrs. Ron
Gouker will soon be moving into their new home they built so our neighborhood is really looking good except we need rain. Congratulations goes to Raymond and Selma Beagles, of Walkerton, who are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Best wishes from your cousin, I sure do remember when you got married and we belled you, and someone stole my dad’s bells. Remember that? Charles and Mary Sheneman are not very well at this writing, but they will be moving next week to Georgetown, Apartment B, 1373 Squire Drive, South Bend, IN 46637. They will have no steps there as they have so many where they live now. They will have an auction on June 25 to sell their property and possessions that they won’t move. So please remember them in your prayers at this time. On Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. out at Peppermint Hill in Potato Creek State Park the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren with Kendal Elmore in charge, will have the morning worship service for the campers. The following graduates were honored at the morning worship service at the Church of Christ. Andy Kaser, son of Doug and Myra Kaser, New Road, North Liberty, and Jason Roush, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wally Roush, Pine Road, North Liberty, both graduating from John Glenn High School. Shelly Peterson, from Community Baptist School, South Bend, and Matt Glenn, from La Ville High School. Best wishes to all you graduates. Our sympathy goes to the Stewart families who are members of the Church of Christ and were shocked Friday afternoon to hear of the sudden death of Douglas Huegel, only 32, in his home in Mishawaka. He was married to Tina Stewart who survives along with three children. She is the daughter of Al Stewart and sister to Tim Stewart, assistant pastor of the Church of Christ. Please remember the families at the sorrowful time. Roger Kronk, American Legion Post 365, played taps in commemoration of the 50th year of World War II at the Memorial Day program in South Bend on Monday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. Mid DeVos and Flora Hough who both fell and broke their hip, aren’t doing too well at this writing, so please remember them. So sorry to report that Mary Jo Golubski, activity director at Miller’s Merry Manor for the past 16 years handed in her resignation last Wednesday. She was a wonderful director, was so good to the residents and all her volunteers. She had so many lovely volunteer dinners for us, to Al’s Diner, Koontz Lake, Yoder’s Family Restaurant, in the country at Nappanee, and just recently we enjoyed a delicious dinner with Zelma Saxton served at the Blissville Church and then we enjoyed many in the dining room in the nursing home. She always managed to give us all many lovely remembrances. I personally have worked with Mary Jo on many programs and entertainment for the residents for the past 16 years. I’m sure it’s not going to be the same and we volunteers and the residents are really going to miss her. So all I can say, Mary Jo, you certainly do deserve a reward and I’m sure God will see FOR RENT Banquet Hall For WEDDINGS - RECEPTIONS LARGE A SMALL PARTIES Wb Can Accomodate Large Groups PLENTY OF PARKING VFW Post 1954 656-4684 North Liberty
