Walkerton Church Starts Shoreside Services June 12 A new dimension will be added to Walkerton area worship on Sunday, June 12. From 7:30 to 8:00 a.m., people of all faiths are invited to join in the first of a series of informal “Shoreside Services" sponsored by the Walkerton United Methodist Church in the east basin of Koontz Lake in front of the home of Ray and Marian Chapman, 20831 North Lake Road. “You can come in your boat and drop anchor or drive to our house and sit on the shore in a lawn chair," said Marian Chapman. “The purpose is to give everyone in the area, including vacationers, a chance to worship in a natural setting without having to dress up." Dr. Donald C. Lacy, pastor of the Walkerton United Methodist Church, will deliver the message with the aid of a speaker system. A veteran of previous lakefront services, Dr. Lacy used a pontoon as his pulpit when he was pastor of the Leesburg United Methodist Church a few years ago. The opportunity to worship at the water’s edge broadens the selection of services now offered by the Walkerton United Methodist Church. The congregation also holds an informal 45-minute service in the forest shade of Stuntz & Hochstetler Pines on Tyler Road north of Walkerton each Sunday at 8:15 a.m. Traditional services are held in the church each Sunday, with Sunday School starting at 9:15 a.m. and worship at 10:15 a.m. A week-night mini-service is offered at 6:30 p.m. each Thursday at the church. Shoreside Services will continue from June 12 through September 4. GUEST SPEAKER AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH THIS SUNDAY MORNING Evangelist Darcel McCoy, of Michigan City, will be the guest speaker this Sunday morning at the First Baptist Church in Walkerton at Clark and Maine Streets. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the John Glenn/Oregon-Davis "villiagers” for their prayers, cards, and many kindnesses during our recent bout with our chifd, Danny. Without your support, it’s hard to imagine how we’d all have made it. We should all be home from Fort Wayne and entering daily therapy at St. Joe Medical Center in South Bend by the time you read this. Your continued prayers are welcomed as we have a long way to go. But the diagnosis is for a complete recovery — it will just take some time. Again, thanks to you all.
