gaber will be delivering his final worship message before retiring. The worship will be at 9:00 a.m. and the sermon topic will be “It’s Great To Be Alive!’’ The chancel choir, under the direction of Mary Ann Gradeless, will offer the final anthem of the season, “The Everlasting Arms”. A farewell program was presented at the church during the church’s annual camp-out on Saturday, May 14. The program was in the form of a “This Is Your Life” presentation in which family, friends from the four churches he served and one of his college professors took part. Rev. Saltzgaber served as Youth Director at Coalbush United Methodist Church in Mishawaka, and as Pastor at Maple Grove United Methodist Church in LaPorte Colunty and at North Liberty United Methodist Church, North Liberty, before assuming the
Maple Grove United Methodist Church in St. Joseph County. Dr. Saltzgaber will be conducting 54 years of public service; 32 years with the South Bend Tribune in advertising, and 22 years as a United Methodist pastor, and holds degrees from Bethel College, Mishawaka, Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminaries, Elkhart, and Southern Baptist Seminary, as well as post-graduate study at Notre Dame. He served in the Army during World War 11, including overseas duty as a staff sergeant platoon leader with the 41st Infantry Division in the Asiatic-Pacific theater of operation. Charles Gerber To Speak At Triton Program Charles Gerber, son of former Walkerton resident Esther Gerber, will be the keynote speaker at Triton High School’s Baccalaureate address on May 27 at 6:00 p.m. Charley is the Executive Director of Christian Counseling Services. He is a 1976 graduate of John Glenn High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Ball State University in 1980. Charley founded Christian Counseling Services in 1985 when he saw the need for a Christian counselor in East-Central Indiana. Christian Counseling Services has two offices in Indiana: Kokomo and Muncie. He has over 13 years experience as a Family and Marriage counselor. In addition to counseling, Charley is the author of a book and video series titles: “Foregiveness Therapy: How To Heal A Bitter Heart”. Charley also speaks on a wide variety of topics. Junior High Youth Convention; the National Youth Leaders Convention for Christ In Youth; the Leadership Conference for the Christian Student Foundations; and the Indiana Christian Youth Convention. He also speaks for Christ In Youth at their summer conferences. He has done many retreats for Junior and Senior High and College Studetns. Like his counseling, all of his topics are Biblically based. Charley has been married to Janelle Gerber for 12 years. They have two children, Joshua, age 7, and Caitlyn, age 4. He is a deacon at University Christian Church in Muncie.
