N. L. Chamber Os Commerce Awards Annual Scholarship The North Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce awarded the seventh annual Charles "Cub” Bare Scholarship to John Glenn senior Jill I. Jones. The award was presented on Monday, May 23, at the John Glenn Academic Awards Night. Jill has been active in the Art Club, Aerial Staff and Yearbook Staff. She plans on attending Indiana University South Bend and majoring in Pre-Dentistry. She is the daughter of Howard and Susan

Name Valedictorian And Salutatorian For Oregon-Davis David W. Vermillion has been selected valedictorian of the 1994 graduating class of Oregon-Davis Junior-Senior High School Vermillion, the son of James W. and Diane R. Vermillion, resides at Rural Route 4, Knox. Kristy Lynn Awald has been selected salutatorian of the 1994 graduating class of Oregon-Davis Junior-Senior High School. Awald, the daughter of Jerry and Peggy Awald, resides at 11386 E. South Avenue, Walkerton. While attending Oregon-Davis, Vermillion has been a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and served as class president. He has also captained the varsity soccer and varsity basketball teams, and been a member of the golf and cross country teams. He attends St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Hamlet. David’s future plans include attending Purdue University and majoring in electrical engingeering technology. He plans on attending the Purdue Statewide Technology program the first two years and then completing his B.S. degree at the West Lafayette campus. While attending Oregon-Davis, Awald has been a member of the National Honor Society, the Future Homemakers of America, the Future Farmers of America, the Varsity Letterman’s Clubk, the Science Club and the Drama Gub. Awald has received awards in Spanish, health, the John Philip Sousa Award, the State Youth Conference and was the Hoosier Girls State representative from Oregon-Davis High School. Awals has been a member of the soccer, track and girls basketball teams. JOHNSON TWP. EXTENSION HOMEMAKERS CLUB MEETS Annette Hesters, secretary for Johnson Twp. Extension Homemakers Gub, presided at the meeting Wednesday at the Community Building. President Catherine Hostetler sent a note thanking the members who donated food and assisted with election meals. Members all signed a card for Alma Daube who had been hospitalized. The birthday song honored Mrs. Hesters, Velma Stahly, Josephine Smith and Peggy Kaser.
