"Come as you are, you’ll be loved” UNITED METHODIST TO GIVE RECOGNITION TO NURSERY SCHOOL Sunday, June sth, during the 10:15 a.m. Worship Service, the Walkerton United Methodist Church will give special recognition to its Nursery School and director, Debbie Sura. The school operates throughout the school year with about 60 boys and girls. Its years of existence have made it a major outreach ministry for the church and a great service to the community. Debbie Sura will be given special honor as the Director for five years by the chairperson of the Nursery School Board, Cathy Reese. A reception will follow the service. The public, especially those having children in the program, are given a special invitation.

MILDRED P. HOCKER Mildred P. Hocker, 90, of 404 Pasadena St., North Liberty, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday in Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton. She was bom November 1, 1903 in Liberty Township and was a lifelong area resident. On September 1, 1923, in South Bend, she mardred P. Motts, she married Wilbur C. Hocker, who survives. Mrs. Hocker was employed by Wells Aluminum for 17 years. Surviving are a daughter, Shirley G. Stoneburner, of North Liberty; two sons, Garence L, of North Liberty, and Gerald G., of Boston; six grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and 10 great-grand-children. She was a member of the North Liberty United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 290. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. The A. M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty, was in charge of the arrangements. JAMES E. KRALLMAN James E. Krall man, 59, of 25809 Quinn Road, died at 2:31 p.m. Friday at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, of an apparent heart attack he suffered while in his semitruck at the comer of Pine and Quinn Roads, about one mile from his home. He was bom November 20, 1934, in Elkhart and had live in North Liberty for 18 years coming from South Bend. On September 20,1958, in Monticello, he married Frances "Jean” Paluchniak. She survives. Mr. Krallman was employed by Schneider Transport Co. of Green Bay, Wisconsin. ren; his mother, Ethel Krallman, of Elkhart; three sisters, Nancy Wagner, of Reading. Pennsylvania, Judy Anderson, of Hudson, Indiana; and Barbara Shearer, of Elkhart; and three brothers, Jack, of Osecola, Phillip, of Edwardsburg, Michigan, and Donald, of Elkhart. A son, Rodney, died in 1961. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 135. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, North Liberty. DONALD H. DUTCHER Donald Harold Dutcher, 84, of Huntington, Indiana, a former Walkerton resident, died at 10:53 a.m. Thursday in his home. He was bom January 31, 1910, in Mishawaka. He married Geneva Smith, who died in May of 1957. On August 1, 1959, he married Wilma Macklin, who survives. Mr. Dutcher was a truck driver for Shell Oil Co. for 21 years and Ulmer Oil Co. for six years. Also surviving are a son, Eldon, of Huntington; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Tribbey, of Peru, Indiana, and Ruth Myers, of Lynwood, Washington; and a brother, Keith Dutcher, of South Bend. He was a member of College Park United Brethren Church, Huntington. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the church. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Huntington College. WILLIAMS K. OLSON William K. Olson, 88. 1080 Walkerton Trail, died about 6:16 p.m. Friday in Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home. Mr. Olson was bom December 27, 1905, in Sloan, lowa. On September 12, 1930, in Chariton County, Missouri, he married May Abimael Johnson, who survives. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, Gary, as an assistant postmaster. Also surviving is a daughter, Wilda Beth Carter, of Walkerton; three granddaughters; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Koontz Lake Missionary Church. Services were held at 11:00. a.m. Tuesday in the Church. Burial was in Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. The Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements. MARY PURKEY Mary Purkey, 80, of 7666 N. Topinabee Road (Koontz Lake), Walkerton, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton after an illness. She was bom November 3, 1913, in East Chicago, Indiana. Barbara Hanes, of Granbury, Texas; a step-granddaughter; a step-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Ann Langel, of Hammond. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Fagan-Miller Funeral Home, Highland, Indiana. Burial was in St. John Cemetery. Hammond. The Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, was in charge of local arrangements. IDA F. SCHAUNAMAN Ida F. Schaunaman, 95, of 6655 N. County Road 1100 E., Walkerton, died at 9:38 a.m. Wednesday in Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton after an illness. She was bom February 27, 1899, in Middletown, lowa. On March 14, 1916, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, she married Fred R. Schaunaman, who died April 25. 1966. Mrs. Schaunman was the former owner of Grovertown Case. Surviving are two sons, Clinton, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Merle, of Koontz Lake; three grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. A son preceded her in death. Graveside services were held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Prairie River Cemetery, Centerville, Michigan. Mrs. Schaunaman was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements. ELIZABETH HOWARD Elizabeth Howard. 76, died Tuesday in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton, after an illness. She was a former resident of South Bend and Elkhart. She was bom February 28. 1918, in Boss, Texas. On December 6, 1942, she married Lester J. Howard, who passed away April 6, 1993. Surviving are a daughter, Dale Beacham, South Bend; a son, Chester J. Howard, of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gifton, Texas. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty. The body will then be moved to Gifton. Texas, for services and burial.
