NORTH LIBERTY By Gladys Sheneman George and Wilda Henry spent the weekend with their son, Brian and family, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. My sister, Evelyn Stonebumer, celebrated her birthday on Monday with many surprises. On Saturday morning a group of friends took her to the C&K Restaurant and had it all decorated and had a lovely party for her. So happy birthday, late from your sis. A huge crowd attended the Tyner Lodge fish fry at the fire station on Saturday evening. The weather was perfect and the fish dinner was delicious. Gladys Sheneman and Mary Morey called on Susie Teter Saturday forenoon at the home of her son Kenneth. She still needs our prayers along with Theda Carlson who is still having problems. The family of Shirley Norris helped her celebrate her birthday on Sunday. Those present were her daughter Jackie, of South Bend, her mother, Lola Pavey and her husband, Jack, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Woolett and family, of South Bend, and Adam and Sherri Mann and family, of Bremen. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Kronk and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kronk went to Bryon Center, Michigan, on Sunday afternoon to attend a choral presentation by seven churches. There was a combined choir of 179 voices, which was beautiful, then each choir sang separately. Debbi Rose, their daughter and granddaughter was choir director of one of the choirs. Those of you who have graduated from Tyner High School, please remember that the Tyner alumni banquet is going the be held this year back in Tyner at the Community Building and Fire Station on Saturday, May 7 beginning at 5:00 to sign in and for the social hour. Swiss steak dinner from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The honored class this year is the class of 1944. About 75 attended the Miller’s Merry Manor volunteer dinner on Tuesday evening at the Blissville Church. Zelma Saxton and her helpers served a delicious sitdown dinner of swiss steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, roll, cherry cheese cake, coffee and punch. Imogean Smith won the door prize. Mary Jo Goiubski gave a short talk on volunteers and then we were entertained by Florence Seekings, Verl Haag and Sam Madonna, of Plymouth. All enjoyed their singing and playing of the good old gospel songs. Mary Jo of the activity department for a wonderful evening. I received a note from Genevieve Beron, of New Albany, thanking me for putting the date of her birthday in my news and she told me she was so happy to receive about 40 cards from her friends around North Liberty and from so many she had not heard from for a long time. She said to tell you that you will be remembered in her prayers. She also said that hearing from so many in North Liberty just made her day. Please sent Astrid Sousley, who use to live on State Road 4, east of North Liberty, a note or birthday card as she will be 91 years on the 30th of April. Her address is Lafayette Health Care Center, 1903 Union St., Lafayette, IN 47904. She is still very alert, her son told me. Eleven members of the Church of Christ attended the Michiana
