LEGAL NOTICES
RESOLUTION NO. 1994-D WHEREAS, the Town of Walkerton, through Ordinance No., an Ordinance Authorizing Garbage and Refuse Removal Service and Providing for Collections of Fees and Charges, has established a procedure for determining charges to residents of the Town of Walkerton for trash removal service; and WHEREAS, the Town recently rebid the garbage and refuse removal service for the Town, which bidding resulted in substantially increased costs for such service; and WHEREAS, the Town Council has avoided use of tax funds in rubbish and garbage removal and intends to continue that policy in the belief that those persons receiving the service should pay for it. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Walkerton, Indiana, that the monthly charge assessed residential customers of the electric, water and sewer utilities for garbage and refuse removal shall be, and hereby is, increased to $5.97 per month, to be billed as a part of their monthly utility bill.

Each volunteer acts as a companion to a child or teenager with a neuromuscular disease during a seven-day camp session. We prefer volunteers to be 18 years old and able to lift a child. “Camp gives young people with disabilities an opportunity to have fun in a place without social or physical barriers”, said Barb Boruff, MDA Northern Indiana Chapter President. “The counselors, campers and staff are rewarded every day with friendship and big smiles.” MDA holds more than 100 camp sessions at almost 80 locations in 44 states and Puerto Rico every summer. More than 5,000 young people from age 6 to 21 attend camps. Activities include swimming, fishing, horseback riding, boating, arts and crafts, dances, talent shows, cookouts, nature study and fire safety. One camper described the experience as "a gift in itself. It instills hope and gives you a feeling of worthiness.” A counselor said, “By being at camp, my whole attitude toward life has changed ... I learned that the love, friendship and happiness associated with service to others are the true treasures of life.” In our immediate area, camp is held at Camp Potawotami YMCA. South Milford, Indiana June 11 - June 18. To volunteer, contact your local MDA office at (219) 2599912 — call collect if needed. MDA is a national voluntary health agency working to defeat 40 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive patient and community services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. The Association’s programs are funded almost entirely by individual private contributors. The egg-laying pythons of the Old World were actually a type of boa constrictor.
