sanitary sewer system, it was the consensus of the above group that connection to the recently constructed sanitary sewer on Industrial Drive about 400 feet south of US 6 was the most feasible. Capacity of the proposed duplex pump station is 80 GPM per pump providing the requisite minimum velocity of 2 feet per second in the proposed 4 inch force main. Future growth could be accommodated by increasing the capacity of the pumps and utilizing the force main up to a velocity of 10 feet per second, effectively increasing the capacity 400 percent! (Installing a 6 inch force main and pumps of 175 GPM capacity should be considered during preliminary design due to the expense of the auger boring to cross both the CSX Railroad and US 6.) Water service is proposed to be provided by an extension of a 12 inch water main on Industrial Drive from the existing 8 inch main located approximately 850 feet south of US 6. The 8 inch main has a present capacity to deliver approximately 1,800 gallons per minute of water at a residual pressure of 20 pounds per square inch. Reinforcements along US 6 west and on Industrial Drive as proposed for the distribution system in Water Distribution System Study, Walkerton, Indiana, 1993 by the undersigned would substantially enhance fire protection flow for the subject site and the adjacent area. While the presently proposed manufacturing facility will provide its own unique onsite fire protection due to the characteristics of the material being processed, future growth on or near the subject site such as the possible location of corporate offices there would require a significant water flow for fire fighting. No less than the proposed 12 inch main should be considered, but an increase from this size could better convey the water supply which will be available with the proposed system improvements. Based on information available to me at this time regarding the needs of the proposed development and using generally recognized cost data for the above described facilities it is my opinion that the extension of sewer service to the site should cost approximatly $68,000 and that the extension of water service to the site should cost approximately SBO,OOO. Both of these estimates include engineering design fees and contingencies to cover unforeseen conditions, but exclude all other costs such as, but not limited to, land acquisition, occupation or lease fees, submittal fees, electrical service, and construction inspection.
