Glenn Boys Play Well In All-Star Basketeball Game The Teachers Credit Union Hoosier All-Star games featuring area smaller high school seniors played before a full house at Brown Gym in South Bend on Thursday, March 24. In the women’s game, the West triumphed 69-59. Mindy Shock, of Oregon-Davis, scored six points in this contest. No Glenn girls were involved in the game. In a contest paced by some hot shooting on both teams, the men’s East team overcame a 68-60 halftime lead to come out on top 124-101. Six sharpshooters were in double figures for the East, paced by 20 points from Jon Berger of LaVille. Four players were in double figures for the West, headed by John Bunton, of Marquette leading with 20 points while the Glenn trio of Jason Groves, 13; Toby Gardner 11; and Jayson Kincaid, 10, were the others in double figures. In the game, Groves hit a total of five of eight shots, including three of five from three-point range; Gardner hit five out of 14, including one trey in four attempts for his 11 points; and Kincaid hit four out of eight with one of three from threepoint range and one of two free throws for his 10 points. Dave Vermillion, of Oregon-Davis, had 4 points on one of three shooting and two of five from the free throw line. The halftime score was West 68-68, but the East outscored the West 64-35 in the second half to win the 124-101 decision.
