NORTH LIBERTY By Gladys Sheneman Doyle and Jane Pittman returned home Sunday from Florida after spending some time with her mother, Blanche Swihart. While there, they visited Gene Springman and reported he is doing fine. They also visited Bud and Pauline Lemert and Pauline is now in the hospital after suffering a heart attack so please remember her. Doyle and Jane also went out to eat with John Stombaugh, they had a great time while in Florida. Guests of Louise Muszer at the annual spaghetti dinner on Sunday at the Sinai Synagogue were Mr. and Mrs. John Croy, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Spencer and daughters, George Farwell, Mr. and Mrs. James Haney, all of South Bend; Betty Helms of Edwardsburg, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. Steve Rudynski and Aletha Croy, from North Liberty. Steve and Joanne Rudynski, Ann Carpenter and son, Dustin, were Thursday evening dinner guests of Aletha Croy. Millie Daniels is in the hospital having problems, so please remember her. Aletha Croy spent Saturday in Plymouth with her brother Everett and his wife, Doris Feece. Other dinner guests were Everett, Jr. and his wife. Everett needs our prayers at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Hunt, of Indianapolis, are the proud parents of a baby girl, she weighed eight pounds and has been named Kimberly Pauline. She has three sisters at home, Kelly Ann Hunt, Christine and Allison Riggle. Grandparents are Lloyd and Dorothy Miller, of North Liberty, and Betty Farnell, of El Sigund, California. Dorothy Naragon and her daughter Janet Fullmer, of Mishawaka, spent two weeks in California were they visited their daughter, Virginia and her husband, Dick Geesaman, of Oceanside, California. They also visited her granddaughters, Vicki and Mike Steeves, of Vista, California, and Dawn and Wade Ferguson, also of Oceanside. They really enjoyed seeing the masses of poppies, daisies and jonaquils in full bloom while there. Louise Grenert and her granddaughter, Christina Bocko, and her daughter returned home Sunday after spending the past two weeks visiting her son, Terry and family in Daytona, Florida. They also visited her granddaughters Sherry and Tammy and their families. They really enjoyed visiting the Kennedy Space Center and seeing the shuttle take off and many other places of interest. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Foresman are back home again after spending several weeks in Sebring, Florida. While there they visited with a lot of North Liberty friends, who are spending the winter there. Many of you will remember Genevieve Beron, who use to live in North Liberty. She has a birthday coming up on April 2 and a friend would like to have a card shower on her. Her address of c/o Robert E. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Schieber, of 102 Williams Street, celebrated their 54 wedding anniversary on Friday, March 18. We wish them the best as Mr. Schieber is not doing well at this writing. The North Liberty V.F.W. Post 1954 is having an Easter breakfast with the Easter Bunny and Baby Chick on Saturday, March 26 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the post for ages pre-school thru third grade. Don’t forget, kiddies. Many of you will remember Flora Hough’s son, Harley, who is very ill in St. Joseph Medical Center. He needs your prayers and also his mother. Flora, who is going to have a birthday on Wednesday, March 23 and will be 94 years old. Her son Joe, from San Antonio, Texas, was here last week. Please remember the family. About thirty attended the Over The Hill dinner on Tuesday at the social room at the Church of Christ. They were entertained after the dinner hour by Violet Wolff, Maxine Worthington, Gerald Kaufman and Dororthy Saylor. Evelyn Trueblood gave a poem about St.
Patrick's Day. It was really a fun afternoon. Lola Pavey and her daughter, Shirley Norris, were Friday dinner guests of Lola's sister, Evelyn Davis, in Plymouth. Well, spring has finally arrived but as I sit at my kitchen table and write my news and look out the window, 1 see Andy and William Groves playing tennis with their shorts on, their sister Mary jumping a new jump rope and Sara Bope and friends swinging on the Morey’s swingset and the birds eating my feed like crazy, so I guess spring is here, but it doesn’t feel like it to me. Have you ever heard of potato magic? If you have a wart, you want to get rid of, just cut off a slice of potato, rub it good on the wart and then take it out and bury it. When it rots your wart will disappear. That's called potato magic. If you try it and it works, let me know. A friend told me to lick mine whenever I thought of it as I had 15 on my hands, and one day I looked and they were all gone. About thirty attended the St. Patrick's Day dinner on Thursday on March 17 at the REAL Service site at the United Methodist Church in North Liberty. About one hour before dinner they were entertained with Irish music by Madelyn Nelson, Charles Myers and Glady Sheneman. All were served mulligan stew. Boy, was it cold Friday and many in the area are suffering with real bad colds. My brother-in-law, Charles Sheneman, called me Friday evening to tell me his wife, Mary Louise, suffered a heart attack on Thursday afternoon and she is in intensive care at Memorial Hospital. Charles is also having problems and they need our prayers and a card. My sister, Susie Teter, who was a patient in St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka, for a week is now recuperating at the home of her son, Kenneth Teter, 60774 Sumption Prairie Trail, South Bend, IN 46614. Gladys Sheneman dressed up like an Irish woman and played the wash board to the tune of ‘The Irish Washerwoman.’ They also sang happy birthday to Jennie Wilson (101) and Reinhold Kapischke (102). Janet Stombaugh won the prize for the most green on. Ruth Finch had Helen McEndarfer, Georgia O’Connor, Betty McCormick, Kerry Finch and daughter Kari to help Marget Mason celebrate her birthday Thursday, March 17 with supper and birthday cake. Mr. and Mrs. Harold O’Connor took his aunt, Marget Mason for a birthday brunch at Al's Restaurant last Thursday. Other guests to help her to celebrate were Norma Solmos, Nancy Dolph and son, Jonathon, and Debbie Gark and son, Jeffrey. Jonathon sang the birthday song to his great-aunt. Geneive Beron, a former North Liberty resident, will be celebrating her 70th birthday on April 2.
