FALCONS GOOD 2ND HALF DROPS BREMEN 66-54 A strong second half followed a very cold shooting first half to give the John Glenn Falcons their 20th win of the season Friday night. But more importantly, the victory put the Falcons in the final game of the 1904 Plymouth Sectional to meet the host Pilgrims in a battle for the title of champion and the right to advance on the the Warsaw Regional the next Saturday. The Falcons record was raised to 20-3, reaching that 20 game win plateau once again. Bremen bowed out of play this season with a 12-9 record, a slightly disappointing season for the Lions after recent years, but they still featured one of the top area players in Corey Reed, who will graduate this year. The cold shooting was most of the story of the first half. The Falcons just couldn’t hardly hit a thing. They only scored three field goals in IS attempts in the first quarter and raised this slightly to five of 13 in the second, giving them a very cool 8 for 28 for the first 16 minutes. Bremen led 14-9 after the first period, as they had five players share their points to take the early lead. A key play occured in the second quarter with about three minutes left, when a foul on Corky Hendricks was called, his third, forcing coach Kent Reed to take him out of the game for a while, but not before he vented his frustrations and was whistled for a tech-

nical. Three out of the four free throws were good and on the possession that also goes along with the technical, the Falcons were able to score a basket, making this a five point play for them. It pulled them closer to the Lions and at halftime the score was 29-25 Brement but the momentum had taken an apparent swing. Coach Gordon Mosson made some changes at halftime, especially on the defensive end where the play intensified to the point that after Bremen made an early basket in the second half they went for about 10 minutes without another basket. In this time the Falcons were starting to fare a little better on offense themselves, and with Jayson Kincaid leading the way in the third period, they outscored the Lions 17-5 to take a 42-34 lead after three and also take charge of the game. Kincaid was steady throughout and just kept getting better, but it was Toby Gardner mostly from the foul line in the fourth period that allowed the Falcons to stay comfortably in front. Gardner had 11 fourth quarter points, which included nine of 10 from the free throw line. Kincaid added seven ( more as the Falcons put together a 24 point quarter to cinch the decision. Reed, for the Lions, had 11 last period points, but the balance and free throw shooting of the Falcons made the difference. For the game, Reed led all scorers with 25 points coming on 10 baskets and three of five from the foul line. He had two three-point-ers but also fouled out late in the contest. Gardner ended with 23

and Kincaid 22. Gardner had only four baksets, two for three-points, but hit 13 out of 16 free throws pacing Glenn’s 20 out of 25 for the game. Kincaid had 10 baskets and two free throws and Steve Snell also hit double figures with 10 points in this game. BASKETBALL FINISHES SEASON, 9 • 10 John Glenn's junior-varsity boys basketball team suffered a dose defeat at the hands of the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings. After leading the game for over three and a half quarters, Tippecanoe Valley began to put the Falcons at the free throw line while launching three point shots at their end of the floor. Even though T.J. Jackson connected on 10 of 10 freethrows, the Vikings came down court connecting on 4 three pointers in a row to narrow the gap on Glenn’s lead. Jackson finally missed a free throw and Tippicanoe Valley retained its hot hand by taking the lead 49 to 48 with 8 seconds remaining. The Falcons were unable to get a shot off as the Vikings late rally left the Glenn junior-varsity with a season record of nine wins and ten defeats. OREGON-DAVIS P.T.O.
