Seven St. Patrick School students were named top students of the quarter at the school assembly Friday morning. Students named included: grade 6, Robert McMillen; grade 5, Ross Holland; grade 4. Jill Kissinger; grade 3, Julie Stone; grade 2, Christopher Hahn; grade 1, Krista Palfi; and kindgergarten, Jennifer Allsop. At the assembly, students were reminded of the theme for this year, “Aim High”, a theme that includes courtesy, speech and helpfulness as well as academics. Students received their awards for top seller of the fall candy sale. Top seller was Brandon Newhart. Second and third place were Joseph Garcia and George Heim. DAIRY QUEEN TOPS SIOO,OOO FOR RILEY HOSPITAL The efforts of the owners, employees and customers of Dairy Queen Restaurants in and around Indiana raised $125,398.98 for Riley Hospital for Children in 1993. The Dairy Queen in Walkerton, located on State Road 23 north, was among those stores that eiceeded the SI,OOO mark. The restaurant is operated by Robert C. Throm. The money raised by Dairy Queen supports the cerebral palsy program at Riley Hospital. “We are grateful to Dairy Queen and their customers for their generosity. Or patients and their families feel a special bond with those who have contributed to this program that is so important to them," said Nancy N. Dodge, M.D., Medical Director of the cerebral palsy program at Riley. Located on the campus of the Indiana University Medical Center. Riley is the only comprehensive hospital in the rate devoted exclusively to the care of children. It is a major referral hospital that cares for the most seriously injured and critically ill children. Each year, nearly 8,000 patients are admitted to the hospital and over 100,000 outpatient visits are made to the 40 special care clinics. ON DEAN'S LIST AT MANCHESTER COLLEGE A total of 92 students have been named to the dean’s list ad Manchester College. That number includes 21 seniors, 21 juniors, 23 sophomores and 27 freshmen. The dean’s list includes those students completing 12 semester hours or more whose grades for the term place them in approximately the upper 10 percent of their classes. Included in this list is: Ejenobo Oke, 312 Roosevlet Road, Walkerton, freshman, K-12 visual arts education major.

Marshall County AARP Group To Meet Thursday The Marshall County Chapter of AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) is informing a growing membership of retired citizens of the county about those issues of concern relating to health care fefore, tax law changes, scams, safety, and security for retirees. Members are gathering for fun and fellowship from Argos, Bourbon, Bremen, LaPaz, Plymouth, Culver and Walkerton. If you are over 50, plan to join this lively group to renew the art of fellowship and make new friends. The next meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2 7 in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center St., Plymouth.
