Holmes, who also is feeling much better at this writing. Sure hope you don’t have any relatives or friends out in the earthquake area in California. My son is in Palm Desert but 1 can’t call him as I tried. Guess we won’t forget this winter, as it is 15 below and there is no school today in a large area and it is to be even colder on Wednesday morning. I’m ready for spring, how about you? Had a call from Charles Myers, of Teegarden, after he read my article about the three crows that came to my bird feeder last Sunday morning. He preceded to tell me that they had raised a baby crow that had its leg broken and they fed and raised it just like a baby. It became one of the family and they even taught it to talk. It became a friend of everyone in Teegarden and when they passed by, he would say “hello.” He could even bark and say other things and lived for 19 years. His name was Blackie and he loved meat scraps, bread and eggs. As you know, crows are scavengers and they prey on animals that are killed on the roads. What a story, if you have one, please call me. Sorry to report my neighbor, Harris Howard, suffered a severe stroke on New Year’s eve. He returned home Monday but still needs a lot of care from his family. Please remember them in your prayers, a call or card.

If you were listening to Hoosier Millionaire program on Saturday, they announced that Don Kochanowski would be a contestant on the January 29 show. I wish him luck and hope he wins and spends the money here in North Liberty. Janice Wozny, of Birmingham. Alabama, spent a few days last week with her mother, Aletha Croy, and her granddaughter, Leaann and her husband, Frank Taber, of Valparaiso, and daughter, Olivia spent the weekend. On Saturday, the Croy family had a get together at the home of Steve and Joanne Rudynski, in North Liberty. A great time was had by ail. Rev. Russell Payne, of the Blissville Church, and Dwight Pippenger spent last week in Ottumwa, lowa, where they stayed in the Church of the Brethren along with other volunteers who had come from Michigan and other places to help rebuild some of the damaged homes from the flood. They were treated well, served good meals and the fellowship was great. It was an experience that they will never forget. Many of you readers know Howard Schafer. He was very pleasantly surprised when he arrived home Sunday after a dinner at the church to find over 80 friends and relatives waiting to help him celebrate his 80th birthday. He is Connie Ullery’s father, who has American Dream Tours, out of Plymouth and he always helps with Help Wanted CASHIER FULL TIME Apply At WELCO RESTAURANT U.S. 6 East, Walkerton 586-2972

You sure don’t know what you are missing back here, or do you as we are having a good old fashioned winter. We got 6 inches of snow, had 16° below Sunday morning and we are to get more snow and below zero again. Thanks Edna Kerchaert for your interesting letter. 1 don't think you would want to get out and hike two miles every day here now. So you and Gene and Curly and Betty Hartsell are the hosts this year for the North Liberty and Walkerton area Florida reunion which will be held on Tuesday, February Bth.
