FALCONS DOWN TRITON 78-58 FOR 7TH WIN The John Glenn Falcons returned to action after the holiday layoff of two-and-a-half weeks with a big 76-58 victory over Triton in a Northern State Conference game. The win was the seventh in nine games for Glenn this year and got them back on track for a possible heavy schedule for the next three weekends. The Falcons used the three-point shot very well early to take a good 22-12 first quarter lead. For Glenn, treys were hit by Jason Groves, Jayson Kincaid and Toby Gardner in the opening eight minutes as Kincaid totaled eight and Groves seven in getting the early advantage. The Trojans had a couple of three's themselves, but couldn't match the firepower of the Falcons. Good balance continued for the Falcons as five players chipped in the scoring in the second quarter, four each by Gardner, Nick Medich, Kincaid and Steve Savoie while the lead was increased to 41-30 at the main intermission. The second half found Groves really taking the scoring lead as he tossed in 10 points in the third quarter while Steve Snell added seven as the Falcons really started to pull away. They increased their margin to 19 in this period, allowing them to coast home with all the boys seeing action in this game. For the night, Groves had 23 on 10 baskets and one free throw, with two of his baskets coming from outside the three-point ring. Kincaid finished with 18 and Snell 14 for the other Falcons in double figures. The Trojans only had one double figure scorer, Gould, with 19, in the losing cause. Two Game* Thia Weekend The Falcons start what they hope is a real busy three weekends of action this Friday night as they take their show on the road to Knox, for a Northern State Conference game with Knox. Tipoff at the Redskins gym is 6:30 for the B-Team. On Saturday, the Falcons will host the North Wood Panthers, who under coach Dan Gunn have shown new life in their basketball program the past year and a half including an upset victory over Glenn last season. Tipoff for the B-Team will be 6:15. Then on Wednesday night, the Falcons will start their Bi-County Tourney action as they will meet the Bremen Lions in the opening Wednesday night game. These two clubs have dominated the BiCounty in recent years and will take, as of now at least, the only winning records into the eight team tourney. The winner of the Wednesday night game will return for Friday’s second contest with the finals on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. The Falcons are the favorites in this meet again this year. The win enabled the hosts to stay in the hunt with Knox for the league title as they improved to 4-1 in NSC play and 9-3 in all games. The Falcons on the other hand were dealt their fifth loss in as many conference starts and their eight loss in 12 outings this season. The Trojans shot the lights out of the gym enroute to an outstanding 59 percent from the field which offset the locals best performance of the year. The Falcons great offensive rebounding in the game nearly did the trick if not for a late scoring run by Triton senior Amy Feldman and the loss of Glenn's Renee Fisher and Jennifer Hoover on fouls which proved to be enought to gain the Trojans the win. Offensive rebounding was the key for coahc Scott Hostetler’s club of staying close, with a dismal 22-62 showing from the floor. The local gals tallied 12 points from rebounds off the offensive glass. Triton, with a brillant 27-45 shooting, needed fewer second chances, and with a lackluster 10-23 performance from the charity stipe were just unable to put the game away. The Falcon skipper was extremely excited and proud of his charges efforts noting that if his team played that hard every game they would have at least two more victories on the year. Triton got off to a quick start on the strength of 11 first quarter points by Feldman to lead at the first stop, 21-12. The scrappy Falcons kept close in the second stanza and went to the dressing room at the intermission down by nine, 38-29. It appeared that the home team was going to run away from the local squad as they expanded their lead to 13 points with still six minutes left in the third period. But the Falcons would not die as they proceeded to run off eight straight points in the next three and a half minutes to close within five at 42-37. The period ended with the locals trailing 50-43. Glenn’s Tracy Legge and Fisher completed three point plays to narrow the margin to three, 52-49,

early in the fourth. Fisher, the Falcons' point guard, left the game with nearly six minutes left to play. The winners then went on a 14-3 run to seal the victory. For Glenn, Legge scored six of her team high 15 points on the offensive boards and pulled down 10 rebounds.
