FALCON CAGERS SUFFER NSC LOSS TO CULVER 44-33 The John Glenn Lady Falcons were handed a hard fought 44-33 Northern State Conference basketball defeat Tuesday night at Culver by the Lady Cavaliers. It was the Falcons sixth straight loss and dropped their overall record to 4-9 and league record to 0-6. It was Culver’s first conference win of the year after three setbacks and improved its season mark to 8-5. The local downfall was their inability to connect on their field goal attempts as they hit on only 10 of 54 attempts for 17 percent. The Falcons stayed close with 68 percent shooting from the 15-foot stripe nailing 13 of 19 tries. In addition coach Scott Hostetler's team played without leading scorer and rebounder Tracey Legge who was sidelined with the flu. The Falcons battled their hosts on nearly even terms in the initial stanza and trailed by only one at the stop, 6-5. The Glenn girls kept it close in the second period with eight of ten shooting from the charity stripe and were down at the intermission 21-17. Junior Kim Walters had 10 points on five field goals to keep Culver on top at the intermission. The locals continued to play hard in the third frame but just could not hit from the field with any accuracy to get back on top and trailed by five, 31-26 at the start of the final frame. Sophomore Tiffany Hesters led Glenn with 10 points and Elyse Clingenpeel had eight rebounds. Junior Tammy Peters tallied 12 points to take game scoring honors for the winners.
