Voice Os The People “My Shopping Trip’’ I never have been one for shopping. I usually get very upset when I go shopping for anything. When I try to take advantage of any in store special, I don't get something stamped and have to pay full price on the item anyway. I find that gift certificates are very helpful to me. Then the recipient has to put up with the hassle. Food is always a good gift, and I am sure that the good folks at Koontz Lake Supermarket could fix you up with a nice fruit basket. A gift certificate for a nice meal can be gotten at both Al's or Dockside Inn. How about a weekend at The Koontz House? 1 had my present picked out at Stanley Marine. A big beautiful pontoon house. I told Roy about this and Io and behold one day this boat was no longer at Stanley's. When I checked with them, it seems that it was sold to somebody else. Roy, you had better get on the ball! Christmas will soon be here. Be sure and stop at Cheryl and Co. for getting beautiful for the holidays. Don't forget dry cleaning. shoe repair, and laundry at the Koontz Lake Laundromat. While you're waiting on car repair or gas at Jeromes, stop for refreshments at Wilma's. The ultimate Christmas present could be a new house bought through one of the excellent realtors at Koontz Lake, Lakeside and Pat & Associates. 1 had better get going and get my

Sincerely, Nedra Williams LOCAL STUDENT IS MEMBER OF PRESTIGIOUS DEPAUW CHOIR Byron Craft, of North Liberty, is a member of the DePauw University Choir and The Century Singers for 1993-94. Craft sings tenor in the prestigious chamber ensemble. A junior majoring in music/business, he is a 1991 graduate of John Glenn High School and the son of David H. and Pamela M. Craft, 201 S. Williams Street, North Liberty. The DePauw Choir has performed under the baton of such luminaries as Aaron Copland. Howard Hanson, Vincent Persichetti, Sir David Willcocks, John Nelson and DePauw alumnus Joseph Flummerfelt. The Concer Choir and its core ensemble, The Century Singers, have appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, The Music Center of Los Angeles, Wolf Trap and Washington Cathedral. The groups presented a Christmas Concert in the East Room of the White House in 1990, and they have performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra at Barbican Hall in London.

They both have away of cheering everyone. Thanks to you both! Tuesday Fred Daniels had the program telling us about the state of West Virginia. He also brought us a beautiful Christmas tree. Thank you Fred. Wednesday Bob Schaeffer had the program and talked to us about Glenn Miller and the possible cause of his disappearance as told by a British bomber pilot. Also about Amealia Earhart and some interesting things about her disappearance. Thursday Mr. Gwin told us about "The difference between how basketball used to be and how it is now". The first state tourney was played in 1911 in Crawfordsville and they beat Lebonan 24-17. The longest game played was in the Marian Regional with Swayze, nine overtimes. The highest scoring game was between Troy State 258 to Dewey Institute 141. The highest school scorer was Marion Pierce from Louisville, 3,019 points. Friday we had our regular sing-a-long with Verice Walz at the piano and Millie Daniels leading the singing of Christmas carols. Juice give-away went to Leon McKesson and Lois Cover. Saturday night, December 4th, was our Christmas Party with a large crowd attending at the REAL Services Site, on Washington St. We had a dinner at 6:30. The centerpieces, candles and holders,

The Card Club presented Betty a gift of money and this was appreciated very much. For entertainment, we had Vi Wolff and her gang from the LaPorte area. This was enjoyed by everyone. Mill Creek, on Sunday, December 12, at 3:00 p.m. (LaPorte time). "Come with us back to a time when thing were simple. An occasion when you can stop time, and revel in the sights and sounds and smells that were Christmas." Refreshments will be served after the presentation.
