WILDCATS ARE NO MATCH FOR LADY FALCONS Glenn’s scrappy Lady Falcons defeated South Bend Riley 49-35 Tuesday night at the Aerie in a girls high school basketball tilt. The win improved the Falcons record to 2-1 while it was the season opener for the Wildcats. The first quarter was very physical. as the Lady Cats experiencing first game jitters, ran into early foul trouble. The Falcons stepped to the charity stripe eight times in the* period but managed to convert on only on toss, but still were able to forge a 9-3 lead at the first stop. she Falcons displayed poor shooting and had some ballhandiing problems in the second stanza which allowed the visitors to cut the wiargin to four at the intermission, 17-13. Coach Scott Hostetler’s team came out of the locker room smoking to start the second half. With six players scoring in the stanza, the local ladies raced to a 16 point lead at the end of the third eight-minute-segment, 36-20. Hostetler’s charges were never threatened in the final chapter as the two teams traded points. Tracey Legge led the Big Black attack with 13 points and 19 rebounds. Teammate Renee Fisher added 11 tallies. Dara Cisney, the only senior on the club, played well polling down 12 boards. The margin of victory would have been greater if not for the Falcons inabilities at the 15-foot stripe. The locals hit on only 14 of 35 attempts, while the Wildcats were not much better with a 10 or 24 performance. From the field, the Falcons sank 17 of 62 attempts and the South Benders canned only 12 of 61 from the floor. The winners soundly outrebounded the visitors 66 to 38.
