NORTH LIBERTY By Gladys Sheneman Stan and Mary Schlemmer were guest Wednesday evening of their daughter. Kay, in South Bend and helped their grandson, A.J. celebrate his sixth birthday. Loraine Beron was also persent. The North Liberty Baptist Church members all enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner in their Fellowship Hail on Friday evening. Kevin Alber and family, from Ohio, moved into the Ed Dalke property last Thursday. He is the new assistant pastor of the Baptist Church and will be in charge of the youth and music. We welcome them to North Liberty. By the way, have you seen any wild turkeys strutting around near where you live? 1 couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I saw about ten of those big birds right close to where I live. I just wonder if they come all the way from Turkey Run State Park. That was the only place 1 ever saw them before. Sure hope they don’t end up on somebody’s Thanksgiving table. A big thank you goes to the volunteer North Liberty fire department who took time out to decorate our town Sunday afternoon for the Christmas holiday season. Thanks, guys, we really appreciate all you do for our community. Did you happen to see the Walton Special Thanksgiving Reunion on Sunday evening. It sure brought back wonderful memories of their wonderful programs. Only wish we had more family programs to listen to and enjoy as today we only hear violence, shooting and sex when we turn on our television. greet all the visitors at the Stuntz Christmas Tree Farm this Friday Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 4:00 p.m. A note of warning — did you know that there has been a lot of vandalism going on in and around North Liberty and Walkerton so I am told? The key to keeping our town a nice place to live is for the police and residents working together. Homes have been broken into, garages and trailers spray painted, yard ornaments stolen, callers wanting to put in new windows or inspect your house for various things, just tell them you are not interested and hang up. Lets be a good neighbor and if you see something suspicious going on, call your neighbor or the police and let us keep our town a nice place to live. Eldon and Gloria Gark were guests Sunday of their daughter, Reva and her husband, Donald, in Goshen. The occasion was to help Gloria celebrate her birthday. Others present were Larry Joe, his wife Betty, Susan and Brian Lee and son, Tim and Alicia Clark, all of Fort Wayne. Also Tracy and Steve Norton, Donald Lee Noel, Jr. and friend, Kara, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Carraco, of Elkhart, along with another grandchild, Kayla Gark. Gloria received many lovely cards and gifts. Happy birthday from all your many friends. Well, here it is Thanksgiving Thursday already. Boy, how the time does fly. I feel that we have so much to be thankful for here in our area that we need to take time and count our blessings. I’m just thankful to be alive when 1 stop and think of all the terrible things that happened in our wonderful world since last Thanksgiving. There have been floods, fires, earthquakes, shootings, explosions, auto accidents and many have lost their lives in these happenings. So I’m happy to be alive and still able to do the things I like to do, writing the news for you, quilting for others and making new friends. I’m thankful I can play the piano for the residents at the nursing home, even though I don’t even know a note. Yes, I have lots to be thankful for and I’m sure you all do too. We need to be thankful for the little things that make a better life, for health, and hope and happiness and strength to deal with strife. Let’s not take all this for granted, but always count our blessings throughout the entire

Manchester. They put on a musical program after which they were taken on a tour of the facility. They didn’t get to see Mr. and Mrs. Amon Wenger, formerly of North Liberty, who now make their home there. They stopped at the Pancake House in Warsaw and enjoyed supper together on the way home. Santa and Mrs. Gaus flew in to the Stuntz-Hochstetler Christmas Tree Farm from the pole last Wednesday and Thursday and greeted 20 children from East Bank Nursery School, in South Bend, and then 36 children on Thursday. They toured the Christmas Shop, saw the dancing Christmas tree and each one had a chance to talk to Santa and Mrs. Gaus wrote down their name, age and what they wanted for Christmas. They had to come early this year because different schools are all booked up already for December. Well, its deer hunting season now and many are going hunting. I picked up Lola Pavey Sunday morning for church and she said, "Look out in my neighbors yard." There hung a deer and when I took her back home there hung another deer on the same tree. One thing sure, I could never kill a deer as I think they are so beautiful and I love to see them.
