TRI KAPPA NEWS Members of Epsilon Chi met at the Walkerton U.M. Church on Thursday, March 4. Special guest, Trish Bottorff, Walkerton’s Young Woman of the Year for 1993 was present and shared her appreciation for all the concerns, gifts, and best wishes shown by Tri Kappa members and the community. She expressed her feelings for the program and shared her experiences at the State competition. Trish shared her excitement of all members enjoyed hearing her stories and seeing the many photographs and memorabilia. We all felt her enthusiasm and wish her well in her future. Epsilon Chi was recognized for their donations to the Walkerton Community Pantry and to St. Patrick's School. College students sent thank you notes for care packages from Epsilon Chi members. Cathy Reese, chairperson, announced that May 10 is the John Glenn Awards Night and May 27 has been scheduled at Urey Middle School’s Awards ight. Kim Towle and Valerie Wade will represent Epsilon Chi at Convention which will be held on April 30, May 1 and 2. Three of our projects are “full speed ahead." Geranium orders are now being taken and will continue through May. Delivery of flowers will be the first week in May. Just in time for Mother's Day! The geraniums come in red, pink, white, verigated and fuschia. The blooms are huge! The cost is $2.00 each. See any Epsilon Chi member for your order. The Walkerton Little League are registering players for this year's teams. That means Tri Kappa Ladies are preparing for their project of operating the concession stand at the Little League Park during baseball season. The Tri Kappa Art and Crafts Festival committee are making final arrangements for the show to be held in April. Watch for further information and rules in the local papers and at the schools. Josie Snell, chairperson for Mental Health Month, presented a video program focusing on the im portance of mammography. Nancy Hockett, Vicki Morris
and Marilyn Pugsley, hostesses for the evening, prepared a lovely table and served refreshments with the St. Patrick’s Day theme. GLENN F.F.A. MEMBERS COMPETE IN DISTRICT 2 TRACTOR CONTEST On February 25, a team of three members from John Glenn F.F.A., Jay Hurford, Matt Leffert and Aaron Williams, competed in the District 2 Tractor Troubleshooting Contest. The team took second place, falling short to an excellent Rochester team. The contest consisted of 10 teams, who were all assigned to a different tractor. Each of the tractors were "bugged" the same, and each team had 45 minutes to restore the tractor to running condition. The contest took place at Wawasee High School. PARENTS WITHOUT PARTNERS TO HOLD DANCE The South Bend Chapter of Parents Without Partners will sponsor a singles dance that is open to the public. Saturday. March 20 from 8:30 to 12:30.
