Walkerton To Match Funds For Sidewalk Work The Walkerton Town Council is accepting sidewalk applications, for work to be done this spring and summer. Five thousand dollars of I ocal Road & Street money has been set aside for the installation of new sidewalks, on a matching funds basis. The Town will pay half the cost, and the individual must pay the other half. The matching funds program is strictly for residential sidewalks. New sidewalks, where there are none, and applications with the earliest date will be given first priority. Applications can be filled out at the Clerk-Treasurer's office from now through March 31, 1993. All applications will be reviewed by and acted on by the Town Council. Betty McCormick Is Named “Citizen Os The Year’’ The North Liberty Lions Gub is pleased to announce that Betty J. McCormick as our 1993 Citizen of the Year. The Citizen of the Year is chosen upon the criteria of the person who has best demonstrated the idea of service to the community. It was upon this criteria that the North Liberty Lions board of directors selected Mrs. McCormick. She will be honored for this service on March 27th at the North Liberty Community Center. Social hour will start at 6:00 p.m. with the dinner being served at 7:00 p.m. The dinner will be followed by a testimonial and roast combination. The format is similar to "This Is Your Life". The master of ceremonies will coordinate the different speakers, who will be friends of Mrs. McCormick. Tickets are SIO.OO and may be purchased from Ist Source Bank, Liberty Drugs and Emporium, Lion Craig Parmiey or Lion Les Stewart. The North Liberty Lions Gub would like to encourage Mrs. McCormick's friends to come and honor her as the recipient of this special award. St. Patrick School Registration Schedule Is Set St. Patrick School plans for its 47th school year. Beginning Monday, March 29, the school will take registration of children who will be returning to grades K-6 for the fall session. Parents may send registration forms to school with their children. New students to St. Patrick, for Nursery school or Kindergarten as well as in other grades will come to register on Thursday, May 6. Health forms and policies will be given to new families. Parents may register their children in the school office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 2:30p.m. Children registering for Kindergarten must be 5 years old by June 1. Children registering for Nursery school must be 4 years old by June 1. Parents must bring a birth certificate for the children they plan to register. Registration fee for new students is $15.00.

The North liberty Zeta R Chapter of Tri Kappa is once again raffling off a handquilted quilt. This year’s pattern is the Broken Star. The raffle drawing will be held May 12th at the regular Tri Kappa meeting. John Glenn Schools Set Kindergarten Roundup Dates The John Glenn School Corporation Kindergarten Roundup will be held at North Liberty and Walkerton Elementary Schools on March 30 and April 1. The North Liberty Hementary School will hold their Roundup Tuesday, March 30, 7:00 p.m. at the North Liberty Elementary School. The Walkerton Elementary School will hold their Roundup on Thursday, April 1, 7:00 p.m. It is very important that all perents of children who will be five on or before June Ist attend. The school asks the children not to attend this meeting. During the orientation night parents will: — Complete registration forms; — Have birth certificates checked; — Sign up for a kindergarten screening. North Liberty April 22 and 23 and Walkerton April 27, 29 and 30; — Receive dental and health information and forms; — Meet other parents to discuss car pools; — Receive a kindergarten handbook; and — Receive and explanation of our kindergarten programs. WALKERTON LITTLE LEAGUE SIGN UP THIS SATURDAY The Walkerton Little League will have one more day of sign-up for the this year's teams this Saturday, March 20. at the Walkerton Youth Building from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. NORTH LIBERTY RECYCLING ON MARCH 18 & 19 The North Liberty Recycling Committee is happy to announce that we will now be able to accept several new items at our monthly recycling dates. The next recycling dates are Thursday, March 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, March 19, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the North Liberty Community Building. Items can only be accepted at these times, do not try to bring them earlier or on different dates. We have been having this happen too often and the items can only be put into the trash. If there are no volunteers at the site, we are not open. Items we are collecting are: STYROFOAM: We will be able to accept styrofoam food containers, egg cartons, cups, plates and foam packing peanuts and shells. These items must be well cleaned and flattened or stacked. We ask that you please bag all styrofoam items together. MIXED PAPER: This area includes junk mail (but no window envelopes) and chipboard—cereal boxes and other food boxes. We ask that you please separate from the other paper and remove any liners. These items may be put into brown paper bags. OFFICE PAPER: We will now accept copy paper, notebook paper, computer paper, and stationery. These items must be clean, dry, and bagged or boxed separately. ALUMINUM: Cans should be rinsed clean and smashed. Scrap aluminum such as foil and pie pans should be rinsed clean and folded up. Other scrap aluminum such as lawn chair and screen door frames should be broken down and have all screws and screens removed. The cans must be kept separate from all the scrap. NEWSPAPER: These must be clean and dry and put into brown paper bags or cardboard boxes. No magazines, glossy ads, or phone books can be taken. CORRUGATED CARDBOARD: These must be clean, dry and unwaxed. Rease remove all staples and tape and fold them flat. GLASS: We can accept only unbroken glass jars — no window glass, light bulbs or dishware. Rease rinse clean with warm soapy water and remove all caps and rings. We accept dear, brown and green glass. Rease separate these by colors. PLASTICS: We can only accept milk jugs, soda bottles, laundry detergent and fabric softener bottles. Rease remove the lids, wash with warm water and crush flat. We can only accept the herns above —we can no longer accept other plastic hems even though the code numbers are similar on the bottom. We ask that you please comply with these rules that have been requested of the committee. FOOD CANS: This category indudes tin and steel cans. Rease wash dean, partically cut out the top and bottom, fold lids into can and smash flat. Please leave lids partially attached to the can. We cannot accept scrap metal.
