NORTH LIBERTY NEWS By Gladys Sheneman Sorry, not much news again this week due to the snow and zero temperatures we have had this past week, but we do have something to look forward to now, as spring is only 20 days away. The Alan Kaser’s are going to tap their maple trees just as soon as the weather is fit, so I put my order in for a half gallon of good old maple syrup. Duane J. Middleton, a professional photographer of Waterloo, Indiana, was in the Teegarden area last week trying to contact people who have pictures of steam engines that ran on the Wabash tracks and other railroad clay pits in the LaPaz area. If you have a picture or can give him any information, please contact him at Sunnyland Park, Waterloo, Indiana 46793. I had a good visit on the telephone the other day with Ruth Cullar, who now lives in South Bend. She said she had the same NUNLEY’S TROPHYS Phone 656-3924 FREE ENGRAVING On Trpphy Orders Over sls 00 Monday - Friday 9 00 • 5 00 Saturday 9 00 • 100 Evenings By Appointment Only Phone 656-3924 |lO S 3 ■■ ———■ in

address in North Liberty for 94 years. That is a long time. She gets the Independent News and the first thing she looks for is my North Liberty news. She then takes the paper to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kramer, formerly of Koontz Lake, and they read the paper. Boy, does that little paper ever get around. Hal and Betty Jean Hevel, of Ashville, North Carolina, arrived at the home of his mothr, Kate Hevel and then later Don and Betty Ann Hevel, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, came to join the family for a get together over the weekend. Vaughn and Barb Eastburn and Bob and Nancy Beghtel recently returned home from a seven day western Caribbean cruise. During the cruise they stopped at Cozumel, Mexico, Georgetown, Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The trip was a celebration of both couples 25th wedding anniversaries. Congratulations and best wishes from all your friends and I hear you really had a great trip with all your surprises. Joan Holmes returned home Monday evening after caring for her grandson, Evan Williams, in Crete, Illinois, while his parents, Jay and Kari Williams spent the past week in Arizona and Las Vegas. The Treasure Chest in North Liberty is having a big sale on all clothing this week. You can purchase any of the clothing for only 50 cents. Please stop by, as you might find a real bargain. They want to get ready to put out their spring clothing. A large crowd attended the dinner at the Church of Christ

Sunday at noon, given in honor of the 42 new members who have joined the church this past year. Callers on Sunday afternoon of Lola Pavey were her daughter, Shirley Norris, Aletha Croy, Vera Krueger and Gladys Sheneman. When you were a kid, did you ever have to take sulfur and molasses in the spring after the winter days were over for a blood purifier? I don’t remember that I ever took any, but I do remember how many would make and drink sassafras tea, which was also suppose to purify the blood. I drank it but I didn’t like it. George and Wilda Henry spent a few days this past week with their son, Rev. Brian Henry and family, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Tammy Stull entertained Wednesday evening, Feb. 24, for her son Brandon who was celebrating his 13th birthday. All enjoyed birthday cake and ice cream after which Brandon opened his cards and gifts. Mary Morey entertained the following friends on Monday afternoon: Iva Pommert, Pearl Newcomb, Mae McDaniel, Martha McCrosky and Gladys Sheneman. Lovely refreshments were served before they returned home. R.E.A.L. SERVICES NUTRITION PROGRAM N. L. United Methodist Church Phone 656-3132 the day prior for reservations.
