Sixteen members of the Church of Christ enjoyed their valentine dinner together Sunday after church at the Round The Clock Restaurant, in LaPorte. The food was delicious and the fellowship was great and we had a lot of laughs. Carl and Barb Zimmerle and Dick Bonham returned home Saturday after spending the past two weeks in Sebring and Lake Placid, Florida visiting relatives and friends. While there they spent some time in Cocoa Beach, Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Island. They also attended the Indiana reunion where 130 were present and they met a lot of folks from North Liberty who are spending the winter. After the reunion Bob and Phyllis Lute, of Walkerton, invited several couples over to their place where they al! visited and had a good time. Barb says, “Thanks.” Gladys Sheneman received a surprise Friday morning when she opened her front door to find a big box of valentines being delivered to her from the 6th grade reading class of the North Liberty School of which Amy Weiss is their teacher. She read my article in my news how I use to make valentines in school. They sure put a lot of work into theirs and they were really colorful. They make and send valentines to a lady who is 94 years old in Illinois and also many of the veterans who in turn have struck up a writing friendship with the students. So you see, the ‘Sweetheart Art' has not been lost. Thanks, Amy, for your letter and thanks to all your reading class for making my day. Forty-five attended the Heart’s Banquet on Friday night at the Church of Christ with Patty Henry and Lori Parson in charge. Their theme was “Newlyweds for Life." Dinner was catered by Bob’s Country Store, with guests being served by lamplight on round tables with real china and the place was beautifully decorated for the occasion. Randy and Karen Schoff had the honor of cutting the lovely wedding cake baked and decorated by Diane Annis. Denise and Gary Brook hosted the Newlywed game with the winners being George and Wilda Henry and Charles and Helen Hensley. Speaker was Steve Carr, of the Milbum Blvd. Church. All had a wonderful evening, thanks to Patty Henry and Lorie Parsons. Our sympathy goes to the Louise Shoue family as she passed away at Miller Merry Manor, where she has been a resident for the past several years. She was 88 and her funeral was Saturday at the North Liberty Church of the Brethren. She is survived by Laurabelle Kime, Joan Koenig and a son, Dean, all of North Liberty. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Liggett who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21 in the North Liberty Church of the Brethren. How did you like waking up to four inches of snow on the ground Tuesday morning? Looks beautiful when looking out, but I'm staying in. You can judge your age by the amount of pain you feel when you come in contact with a new idea.
