SERVICES NEWS WALKERTON On Monday Harold and Hazel Schweder were in charge of the books and program with Hazel giving jokes and stories. If you want to be uplifted, come and join us at REAL Services with Hazel. On Tuesday Mr. Stuntz gave the program telling us about the state of North Dakota, made up of German and Nowwegian farmers. They raise wheat and cattle. When the drought came in 1929, the wind blew so hard it blew clear over to Indiana. It dried the ground up so hard they started using strip farming, 200 foot wide to leave the grass grow on it so the snow would lay on it to keep the moisture in. The most beautiful place to see is "International Peace Gardens" up to the border of Canada. They have Ft. Lincoln State Park there also two Roosevelt Parks, since Teddy Roosevelt went out there. Wednesday Bob Schaeffer had the program with some jokes. Juice winners were Rose Minter and Lois Cover. Thursday we had an auction sale of white elephants and bake sale. Bob and Jessie Schaeffer were auctioneers, Mary Cable helped also. Hazel Schweder was bookkeeper. It was a great success. On Friday we celebrated Valentine’s Day with a drawing for king and queen and Ruth Ullery was our queen and John Lemert our king. Congratulations to both. We had our usual sing-a-long with Verice Walz at the piano and Evadeane Platz leading singing. Wednesday, Verl Haag and Florence Seeking were to be with us, however they both have laryngitis. Watch the paper for a later date. Get well Florence and Verl. A good example of slow motion is watching a dieter get ready to step on the scale.

The Trojans came out on top 14-12. The scorers for the Shamrocks were Heather Moore, Beth Honaker, Melissa Craig, Jessica Ellis, Korey Whitmer and Erin Master. Although not everyone scored, they all played a great game. Sarah VanDussen was very aggressing and Jessica Smith did a great job of taking the ball away from the other team. Even though not all the players played as long as they would have liked to, they all had a great attitude towards their opponents. On February 11 the North Liberty versus Walkerton game turned out to be a big success for the Shamrocks. It was a hard game for the A and B teams. The A team won by eight points, 10 to 2. The B team won 12 to 6. They all played great with excellent defense and fantastic offence. The refs complimented the North Liberty team on their manners. Walkerton was a good team also.
