LADY FALCONS FALL IN TITLE TILT 49-36 Coach Scott Hostetler's John Glenn Lady Falcons dropped a 49-36 decision to the host LaVille Lancers in the finals of the 17th annual girls Bi-County Basketball Tournament. It was the Falcons first appearance in the title contest in eight years. The locals ran into a red-hot Lancer quintet in the first half of play. After holding an 11-6 lead at the first stop, LaVille poured in 10 of 13 shots in the second quarter to race to a 32-12 advantage at the intermission. In the eight-minute segment the Lancers forced nine turnovers to disrupt any Falcon offensive attack. Overall, the winners hit on 16 of 20 shots at one point to build a big 44-20 lead midway in the third stanza. LaVille led 44-23 at the start of the final frame. After falling behind by 24, the Glenn gals went to a full-court press and outscored the Lancers 13-2 to get within 46-33 with more than four minutes to play. Butthat was as close as the locals would get. The Falcons used juniors Christy Werner and Jonna Johnson to chase LaVille’s talented senior guard Andie Lehr and held her to only 12 points. Lehr’s teammates Melamie Gilmer and Stephanie Shidler stepped forward to add 10 points apiece to the winner's cause. Sophomore Anittah Patrick scored 11 points and team and classmates Renee Fisher and Tracey Legge added nine and eight tallies respectively, to lead the young Falcons. Coach Hostetler, who started three soohomores and a junior, stated "I was very proud of the way we hung in there and didn’t quit. We are a young program

BREMEN GAME (continued from Page 1) the starting fives accounted for almost all the points in this game. His 15 points came on six baskets and three of three from the line but balanced scoring behind him found Gardner with 11, all from the floor, Groves ended with 10 including three treys, with Jayson Kincaid and Casteel getting eight each. A 19 point effort by Mann topped the Lions and Hendricks and Hundt followed with 15 and 12 respectively to account for all but six of the Lions points. Glenn totaled 22 baskets with six of these being three-pointers while hitting on four of just five attempts from the charity stripe. Bremen had 18 baskets, including three treys, and added 13 of 18 from the 15-foot line. Two Conference Games Await This weekend the Falcons will play at Jimtown on Friday night and host these same Lions on Saturday in two key NSC games. A pair of victories would assure the Falcons of at least a tie for the conference crown as only the LaVille game on February 12 remains on their confemce schedule. Tipoff for both games is 6:30 for the B-Teams. BOX SCORE Glenn fg ft fta p tp Kincaid 4 0 0 5 8
