New York. Stericycle, Inc., based in Rolling Meadows, 111., claims it can run a safe and clean medical processing plant in the North Liberty Industrial Park. Another biologist, Jim Whitburn, of Rush, New York, joined the group to interpret the findings and the three scientists are discussing with Stericycle according to Town Council member, Richard Warner, whose assignment it was to learn if the plant is free of all infectious viruses, bacteria and spores. At present the scientists indicate that the Stericycle process is one of disinfection and it would not be acceptable in the state of New York. Dictionary meaning of disinfection is a process of destroying disease causing germs. Sterilization is a process of killing all living microorganisms. “Sterilization, is the process of the future” the scientist indicated. John Harbaugh, president of the Industrial Park Development Corporation, indicated that Stericycle has to qualify each piece of machinery and equipment before it can start operation.

In other business the council approved Ordinance 92-08 to vacate the North-South alley from Harrison Street to Market Street and Ordinance 92-06 posting no parking from State Street No. 4, 100 feet east side of Henry Street. Also red tagged a 6 by 24 foot addition to east side of garage at 201 Stewart Street. They accepted the paving bid from Walsh & Kelly Construction for the sum of $34,400. Paving is in process. Wheelchair access to sidewalks is implemented.
