NORTH LIBERTY NEWS By Gladys Sheneman Our deepest sympathy goes to the families of Joyce Richmond, who lost her father, in Willington, Ohio, on Monday and to the families of Minnie Snyder, who died on Tuesday at Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton, where she had been a resident for some time. Please remember the following friends in your prayers and a card or call. Edna King, Pearl Roush, Lola Pavey and Sis Heim. How many of you get the Marshall County Life magazine? Did you recognize the good looking lady on the front page? She’s the one who is hosting the quilt show in Teegarden on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There will be home cooked food, a quilt in a frame to quilt, and I plan to be there and help quilt it, as it’s been in that frame for several years now and so its time to get it finished, don’t you think? So bring your thimble and join in the fun. Also bring something to send to the hurricane families in Florida and Louisana. See you at the quilt show. She weighted nine pounds and two ounces. Calvin and Clara Mae Kronk are the proud great-grand-parents. Best wishes from all your many friends in Indiana, Jeff. Seventeen friends, who had attended the Teegarden School years ago, met recently at the Holiday Balloon Wurks Restaurant, in Plymouth, where they enjoyed getting together and have dinner and talk over old times. Du Wayne and Becky Burch spent the weekend in Frankenmuth, Michigan, sightseeing and touring the town with all of its new added attractions. There is a correction in my article about the garage owned by Paul Bare and Clarence Heim. It was Clell Bare instead of Paul. Joan Baughman, who is a patient in Michiana Hospital, is slowly recovering and is to get to come home on Friday. She suffered a stroke while in California. Bob Hunter, son of Mildred Hunter of North Liberty, recently helped make skydiving history while attending the World Freefall Convention in Quincy, Illinois, in August. Bob was one of only 700 skydivers that were allowed to jump from from a Boeing 727 jetliner. This was the first time

> that civilian skydivers were allowed to jump from a commercial jetliner. The jump was made to celebrate the infamous jump made by D.B. Cooper during the hijacking of a 727 in the early 70’s. The United States Parachute Assoc, has issued “D. B. Cooper” numbers to all participants. Bob is the proud holder of 4255. Jumps were made from an altitude of 14,000 ft. while going 150 mph. Bob was happy to report that due to his exit position, he was one of the lucky few that managed to land back at the airport. Bob has made 220 freefall jumps and holds an “Expert” license. Mildred has made two “tandem” jumps (in Jan. and July) and plans on making a few more while visiting Bob in Texas in December. The Memonite Church of North Liberty is having a special service at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, at Quaking Aspen Picnic Shelter, at Potato Creek State Park. The public is welcome. How many of you remember back when you were growing up gathering eggs out of the old hen house or chicken coop. I can remember seeing my grandparents feeding the chickens out in the chicken lot out of pail and then my grandmother gathering the eggs and putting them in her apron, as back in those days all the women wore aprons. I remember gathering the eggs, and in the spring some of the hens decided to set, and they would pick me, when I tried to get the eggs from under them. Sometimes they would steal their nest out in the weeds somewhere and later come around with 12 or 15 of the cutiest little yellow baby chicks you ever did see. We had a mean rooster too and he would take after us kids and did we ever run. And of course, back then as soon as school was out in May we went barefoot and once in a while we would step in that you know what, and it would squish between our toes and then we would run to the pump and wash our feet off. Talk about the good old days, I will never forget the old hen house. Will continue next week. Remember Saturday from 4:00 to
