“Darcey Days’’ Program Set For Potato Creek “Darcey Days’’, a special theme weekend focusing on the history of Potato Creek State Park, will be held September 18 - 20 at the park on State Road 4 east of North Liberty. Darcey Worster was the first proponent of a park at this site who loved the outdoors. His efforts have developed into a wonderful and very highly used facility. The program of events for the three day weekend is as follows: Friday, September 18 7:30 p.m. — The History Os Potato Creek. Don't miss this special evening slide presentation on the history of and development of the park. 45 minutes. Meet: Nature Center Auditorium. Saturday, September 19 10:00 a.m. — Darcy Bugs. We'll take a look at the historical “bugs’’ used to promote Potato Creek as a Park and then make your own unique “bugs'' to take with you in this craft session. 1 hour. Meet: Porter Rae Cemetery. 7:00 p.m. — Tuxedo Junction In Concert. Bring along a lawn chair to enjoy the big band sounds of the 30’s and 40*s in this delightful concert. Meet: Peppermint Hill Shelter. Sunday, September 20 10:00 a.m. — An Abandoned Farmsite Revisited. Be prepared for some off trail walking as we take & look at an old farmsite to unlock some of the mysteries of the past on this hike. 1 hour. Meet; Campground Office. 2:00 p.m. — Darcey Worster, An Outdoorsman. From fly tying to nature study, Potato Creek’s first proponent loved the outdoors. This special presentation will feature him and his pastimes. 45 minutes. Meet: Nature Center Auditorium. Please note: All programs are free of charge and open to the public after paying the park admission fee. All programs begin promptly at scheduled times. We hope you enjoy your visit. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Some people don't let ideas interrupt the easy flow of their conversation.
