North Liberty Starts Decoration Fund Raiser The North Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce began a fund raising drive for new Christmas Decorations for North Liberty with a raffle during Potato Creek Festival. Several area businesses were generous with prize donations, and raffle ticket sales were good. The lucky winners were: Ist prize: patio chaise lounge donated by Palm Casual II — Robert Foresman. 2nd prize: $50.00 savings bond donated by Becker Builders — Sharon Zakowski. 3rd prize: $50.00 savings bond donated by Becker Home Improvements — Reatha Vandal!. 4th - 7th prizes: 2 theater tickets donated by the Old Lakeville School Project — Marka Jackson, Ray F. Summers, Perle Lappin, and Gene Bailey. Bth & 9th prizes: 2 dinners donated by Nancee’s Case — Sue Coroan and Matt Naragon. 10th • 14th prizes: SIO.OO gas donated by Fair Oil — Charles Correll, Madelyn Nelson, Craig Parmley and Darla Fair. 15th prize; dinner donated by Sunny's Ethnic Restaurant — Kevin Swihart. SERVICES NEWS WALKERTON On Monday Hazel and Harold Schweder were in charge of the program with funny jokes and stories. We also thank them for bringing us some green beans and zuchinni. Also for Aaron Myers for the special music on the piano. Tuesday Mr. Stuntz gave the program on the City of Chicago. He said there were 11 million people living in Illinois. Half of them live in Chicago. He talked about the Chicago fire in 1887, also Sears Tower, on of the tallest buildings. Jack Benny came from Chicago. Wednesday Jessie Schaeffer had the program with some jokes and she also read us some notes “Readers that recall famous people’’. Some were Jack Dempsey, Phillip Morris, Arnold Palmer, Mickey Rooney, Cab Calloway and Jean Harlow. Thursday we took our trip with six cars driving to Peru, Kokomo and around the Logansport area. There are a lot of interested things to see right close to home. We wound up at the Apple Dumpling Inn at Mexico, Indiana. Friday Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorn played the clarinet and piano. Fred Daniels took care of the books and also led the singing. Our birthday party will be August 20th. Come in and celebrate your birthday with us. Mr. Haag and Florence Seekings will be here also. We thank Clayton and Louise, Gale Shetland, Fred and Millie Daniels and Mr. Capek for bringing in vegetables for us.
