Quintessence To Appear At Potato Creek Park The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Cultural Arts Program will host a performance of Quintessence on Saturday, July 18, at Potato Creek State Park. The performance, which is free of charge and open to the public, will be held at the Orchard Shores East at 7:30 p.m. Quintessence, formed in 1980, has entertained all over the northern half of Indiana. The members of the group are well known throughout the Fort Wayne area for their musical revues, which pay tribute to such composers as Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Jerome Kern. Quintessence combines years of training in drama, dance and vocal intrumental music to present an exciting program of comedy, song and dance. You are invited to bring the family to this entertaining presentation. Although the performance is free, the standard $2.00 per car (.50 per person for buses) will be charged at the gate. Lawn chairs or blankets are suggested to ensure comfortable seating. T-BALL MAKE-UP GAMES Last Sunday’s T-Ball games have been rescheduled. JG FOOTBALL EQUIPMENT ISSUE DATES The dates have been set for the issue of football equipment at John Glenn High School. Football equipment will be issued by coach Drotar from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Equipment will be issued to seniors on July 22nd; juniors on July 27th; sophomores on July 29th; and freshmen on July 30th. R.E.A.L. SERVICES NEWS WALKERTON On Monday Harold Schweder took care of the books while Hazel was in charge of the program. She told us some funny jokes. Tuesday Ervin Stuntz was in charge of the program which was on the state of Florida. There are 36,300 Indians in Florida. In 1513 Ponce De Leon claimed the land of Spain. A Mrs. Tuttle owned Miami in 1890, she gave half the land to the railroad. The everglades are 100 miles long and 50 miles wide. The Smola Indians lived there in that area. There are 350 birds andd 700 kinds of seafood there. Some of our people gave their thoughts on Florida. On Wednesday Jessie Schaeffer talked to us and gave us some funny jokes and stories. Thursday Virgil Gwin read us articles out of the magazine “Reminisce". Most of the things in the magazine bring back a lot of members and good times. Friday we had our sing-a-long with Verice Walz at the piano and Millie Daniels leading the singing. We had several guests this last two weeks. We hope they will come back again. July 22 will be our birthday party for the month. Blood pressure will be coming up soon. If you haven’t been to REAL Service, please come and join us. sth & 6th Grade Football Camp At John Glenn Football camp for students entering the sth and 6th grades will be held the week of August 3rd through the 6th. The camp will be run from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. daily. John Glenn High School varsity football coach Dan Drotar will conduct the camp. Coach Drotar will give instruction in the fundamentals of football. This is a noncontact football camp open to all students who will be entering the Sth or 6th grade. The cost of the camp is $15.00 which includes camp T-shirt and awards. WALKERTON’S WOMEN’S AGLOW FELLOWSHIP MEETING The monthly meeting of Walkerton Women’s Aglow Fellowship will be held on Saturday. July 18, at 9:00 a.m. for refreshments and 9:30 for praise and worship. The meeting will be held at the Walkerton Community Building. Our speaker for this month’s meeting will be Wilma Long, of Fish Lake. Wilma has served as prayer chairman, recording secretary, vice-president and book chairman of LaPorte Aglow. Wilma was a part of the group of ladies who heard the call of God to start Aglow Fellowship in LaPorte. Wilma now serves as vice-presi-dent of retreats on Northwest Indiana Area Board. She teaches Sunday School and has a heart to see victory in everyone. She lives by the truth of God’s word and has experienced many victories herself in her health, family and friends.
