Charles Sheneman reports that his wife Mary Louise isn’t very good so please remember her as she needs our prayers. Congratulations this week goes to Darrell and Dorothy Roush, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, July 5. Their son, Walley, and his wife Ruth and sons Jason and Wesley, took them to South Bend Sunday morning where they all attended church at the First Christian Church and then they went to Morrow’s Restaurant in Mishawaka where they really got a big surprise when they arrived to find the following relatives and friends waiting to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Roush, of Walkerton; Mrs. George Roush, of Lakeville; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hawley, of Plymouth; Ruth Roush, Grace Bruce (Dorothy’s sister) and her brother Howard Smith, of South Bend; Mrs. Dora Listenberger, South Bend; Pearl Roush, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ulbricht and Florence Garwood, all of North Liberty. Ruth Roush surprised them also with a beautiful 50th wedding anniversary cake, which all enjoyed. After that the Roushes were taken to Plymouth to the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Hawley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hawley. So the Roushes really had a wonderful day and their many friends wish them the best of everything and God bless you. Don’t forget Saturday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. is the annual Ice Cream Social held at the Blissville Church of the Brethren, located on the Plymouth-LaPorte Trail. ticipated from John Glenn. They were all beautifully dressed in their formal gowns and for the dance routine, choregraphed by Angel Bell. Miss Brandi Davis entertained accompanied by Mrs. Diana Davis at the keyboard. Craig Parmley, president of the Lions Gub, presided. The judges were from the Greene Township Lions Gub. It was a big decision and very difficult one, but they chose Miss Cindy Holtz to be Miss Liberty 1992, with Jennifer McCormick runner-up. The girls all rode on the Lions Gub float on Saturday in the 4th of July Parade. Scott and Jill Lucas, of Ohio spent the 4th of July weekend with Rev. Charles Richmond and Joyce. According to Mary Johnson’s diary of 100 years ago on July 1, the weather was clear and cool. She canned three quarts of currants. How many of you ever raised currants and canned them or made currant jelly. This sure brought back memories to me as I remember my mother-in-law Susie Sheneman, raising currants in her garden and then making currant jelly. I would sure like to taste some of that again, how about you? Congratulatgions goes to the John Glenn High School Band, who participated in the 4th of July Parade on Saturday morning in South Bend and won five awards. They also marched in the North Liberty Parade in the afternoon and they looked great, as they performed before the judges. We can all certainly be proud of the John Glenn High School Band and please tell them so. Melba Schmucker, of Archbold, Ohio, spent the weekend with Gail and Mae McDaniel. Other 4th of July callers were Thelma McDaniel and Mr. and Mrs. Larry McDaniel and daughter Anna, all of Elkhart. Ruth Black, of Sebring, Florida, is here visiting her daughter Pam Craft and family. Bryan Craft, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, also spent the weekend along with James and Jennifer Black of Huntertown, Indiana. They also were in the talent show along with the Crafts.
