Mary Kay Millar made a motion, seconded by Gene Knowlton, to accept the resignation of Carolyn Alexander as Spell Bowl Coach for Urey Middle School effective at the End of the 1991-92 school year. Shirley Winquist, Bus Driver Dave Hostetler made a motion, seconded by Nilas Miller, to approve the appointment of Marilyn Lightfoot as principal for summer school and Shirley Winquist as bus driver for summer school. The motion was approved by a six to zero vote. 4. Approve Kindergarten handbook for the 1992-93 School Year Dave Hostetler made a motion, seconded by Don Ludwig, to approve the Kindergarten Handbook for the 1992-93 school year as presented. 5. high school student handbook, a motion was made by Mary Kay Millar, seconded by Nilas Miller, to approve the John Glenn High School Student Handbook for the 1992-93 school year as submitted with a recommendation on dress code to be brought back to the School Board this fall. The motion was approved by a five to one vote with Dave Hostetler voting no. 6. Approve Urey Middle School Student and Athletic Handbooks for the 1992-93 School Year Following a motion by Mary Kay Millar, seconded by Nilas Miller, the Harold C. Urey Middle School Student and Athletic Handbooks were approved by a vote of six to zero. 7. Approve the Transfer Tuition Request for Ryan Liedtky to Attend North Liberty Elementary School A motion was made by Gene Knowlton, seconded by Nilas Miller, to approve the transfer tuition request for Ryan Liedtky to attend North Liberty Elementary School. The motion was approved by a six to zero vote. 8. Approve High School Equivalency Certificate for Pamela J. Burleson and Roberta J. Berger Wheatbrook David Hostetler made a motion, seconded by Don Ludwig, to approve the High School Equivalency Certificate for Pamela J. Burleson and Robert J. Berger Wheatbrook. The motion was approved by a six to zero vote. REPORTS 1. Social Studies Curriculum — Dolores Mueller Miss Dolores Mueller, John Glenn High School assistant principal, presented the revised social studies curriculum for the School Board to review. The School Board will consider adoption of the social studies curriculum at the next Board meeting. John Glenn School Corporation Plan for the Use of Technology in Our Schools Sharon Klinedinst, Computer Coordinator Mrs. Sharon Klinedinst, Computer Technology Coordinator, presented the Corporation plan for the used of technology in our schools. The report was prepared in responsed to the School Board’s request for a plan to be developed to emplement technology in the schools. The report provides a vision, goals, objectives and budget for the use of technology for learning and instruction. An excellent presentation was made by Mrs. Klinedinst. Members of the Technology Council are Brent Kaufman, Sharon Klinedinst, Dan Patrick, Beverly Church, Sarah Marsh, Cathy Van Duyne, Linda Holland, Gloria Taylor and Bruce Fleming. The School Board will review the report at the next Board meeting with action to be taken at a future School Board meeting. 3. Superintendent’s Report NEXT MEETING DATES The Board of School Trustees will meet in a work session on June 15,1992 at 7:00 p.m. at John Glenn High School for the purpose of inservice /orientation immediately.

The Board will meet in work session on June 22, 1992 at 7:00 p.m. at John Glenn High School for the purpose of inservice/ orientation. An executive session will be held on June 27, 1992 at 8:00 a.m. in Plymouth for the purpose of training School Board members with an outside consultant about the performance of the role of the members as public officials.
