JENNIE F. KERCHAERT Jennie Fem Kerchaert, 79, of 506 Illinois St., died about 12:25 p.m. Sunday in her home. Mrs. Kerchaert was bom July 5, 1912, in North Liberty and was a lifelong area resident. On November 21, 1931, in North Liberty, as Jennie Heim, she married Julian Kerchaert. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1980. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Walkerton, and was a Sunday School teacher. Surviving are two daughters, Saundra Ochs, of Walkerton, and Janet Kincaid, of New Carlisle; five grandchildren; four great-grand-children; two sisters, Naomi Huff, of Koontz Lake, and Hazel Beldon, of Mishawaka; and three brothers, Alfred Heim and William Heim, both of Walkerton, and Richard Heim, of North Liberty. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Rannells Funeral Home Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc. LLOYD R. BURCH Lloyd R. Burch, 76, of Route 1, Walkerton, died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday in Holy Cross Parkview Hospital, Plymouth. He was bora December 7, 1915 in Marshall County and was a lifelong area resident. On December 7, 1936, in Donaldson, he married Madeline H. (Miller) Cole. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Ronald L. and Delmas G. Burch, both of Walkerton; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Dwight H. Burch, of Walkerton. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Blissville Church of the Brethren, of which he was a member. Burial was in Tyner Cemetery. Mr. Burch was a retired selfemployed farmer and he drove a school bus for the Tyner and John Glenn schools for 33 years. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. FRED BARBKNECHT Fred “Fritz” Barbknecht, 87, of old U.S. 30, Hamlet, died at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday in Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton. He was born August 4, 1904, in Hamlet. On July 26, 1926, in Goshen, he married Iva Anderson. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Patricia VanEtten, of Utica, New York; a son, Lee, of Riverside, California; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, William, of Walkerton. A daughter preceded him in death. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial was in Fletcher Cemetery. Mr. Barbknecht had owned and operated Fritz's Mobil Station and was a farmer.
