UNITED METHODIST ENJOY MOTHER-DAUGHTER EVENT Mothers and daughters gathered at the United Methodist Church May 14 at 6:30 p.m. for an evening of good food, fellowship and spiritual enrichment. A bonteous potluck meal began the evening with Mrs. Walter Smith giving the dinner prayer. The fellowship hall was decorated with colorful balloons and construction paper birds overhead and small branches in flower pots on the tables with birds sitting on their nests among the branches. Midget baking cups were at each place setting with a bird next of jelly beans resembling bird eggs. Bird napkins also accented each place setting. In the center of each table was a begonia plant which was given to the mother/daughter with a marked placemat. A thank you goes to Mrs. Viola Barden, Mrs. Leigh Hahn and Catherine Hahn

The mother/daughter response was given by Mrs. Brad Schmeltz, her daughter Jill and adoptive daughter Season. Each year someone is awarded a special for their dedication to God and their church. This award went to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bullinger. Mrs. Richard Kickbush introduced Dr. and Mrs. Hansen, their son, and helper who showed their many beautiful birds and the many clever things they could do connected with bible stories and the scriptures. We thank Dr. Hansen for his many wise words and wonderful evening of entertainment. A big thank you to the men who helped to set-up, serve and cleanup. Also for the help from a few young fellows who helped Dr. Hansen set up for his birds.
