species or Arbor Day. One student stated, “We can live in this world as it is, or we can change it and make it a place everyone will love and take care of. Students used this opportunity to express their
feelings on what is happening to their world. First place went to Sasha Klinedinst with her “Clean Up America" poster. Other top winners were Steven Savoie, Yolanda Lozano, Sarah Martin and Jacinda Pairitz. BAPTISTS ENJOY MOTHER-DAUGHTER AFFAIR Friday evening, May 1, 240 mothers and daughters gathered at the John Glenn High School cafeteria for the annual Mother-Daugh-ter Banquet of the First Baptist Church. The theme this year was “Precious Memories". Judy Neidlinger led the group in prayer, giving thanks for the bountiful salad supper. The tables were beautifully decorated with potted plants of assorted plants, pastel cups and flowered napkins. After the delicious meal the group went into the auditorium for their program. The welcome was given by Jenna Whitmer, then a skit, Mama Made A Clean Sweep, was narrated by Kathie Fox with Kristi Flaugher, Jennifer Mitchell and Karissa Hickey taking part. Eighteen little girls sang Mothers Love Us. A Daughter's Memories was given by Erin Doyle, her testimony and singing, I Am A Promise and I’m Something Special. Precious Memories was sung by Bridget Barden, Judy Neidlinger, Peggy Snyder, Terry Van Dyne and Judy Zahm. A Grandmother’s Memories was given by Sara Wilson, Velma Persinger and Themla Hostetler, followed by a group of older girls singing Memories and Mother. A Missionaries Memories was given by Kristen Hickey (a missionary here on furlough from Brazil). Gina Staiger and Carmalee Tanksley sang My Mother’s Bible. Marilyn Van Dyne gave a devotion entitled, “Let’s Make A Memory”. The group all the chorus of Precious Memories. Thirty-four potted plants were given out as Peggy Snyder drew out their names. Olive Back dismissed the group in prayer. NORTH LIBERTY NEWS By Gladys Sheneman Mae McDaniel, Helen Loucks and Gladys Sheneman, of North Liberty, Melba Schmucker, of Archbold, Ohio, Gail and Edna Wyrick and daughter, Evie Roush and daughter, of Bryon, Ohio, all enjoyed dinner together last Friday at Sauder’s Farm, in Archbold, Ohio, in the bam restaurant and also enjoyed looking at all the beautiful quilts and wall hangings, riding the train around the grounds and then visiting a lot of the shops
and saw a newborn mini pony which was really cute. It was a fun day at Sauder’s Farm. Iva Pommert entertained Pearl Newcomb, Martha McCrosky, Mae McDaniel and Gladys Sheneman recently. Lovely refreshments were served before they departed on Monday afternoon. Dennis and Linda Croy and son, Joshua, of Grovertown and Bob and Roxanne Croy and son, Doug, of Plymouth, spent Sunday with Aletha Croy of the Savoie Apartments. Please continue to remember Helen Pogodzinski in your prayers as she remains critical in St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Charles and Joyce Richmond are the proud grandparents of a new baby boy bom May 4th to Jay and Rhonda Richmond, of Bakersfield, Calif. They named him Kyle Anthony and he has a sister, Courtney. Richard Ross, of South Bend, and his sister, Carol Ann, who is here visiting from California called on Lowell and Eva Ross last Tuesday. Paul Ross, of near Walkerton, now deceased, was their father. Richard is interested in getting the Ross family history. Roy Ward, of New Road, who had heart surgery over a week ago is back home recovering and was able to attend church Sunday morning which was good news. Early Saturday morning, Gladys Sheneman, Louise Grenert, Gell and Marion Fouts accompanied Roger and Arlene McCan, of Plymouth, to Greenfield, Indiana, where they spent the day with Harold Rust, who is recovering from surgery. They enjoyed a carry-in dinner together and later spent some time at the home of his daughter, Janet and her husband Tom, who live across the street. Everything is really coming alive down that way and the farmers were really out in the fields working. We stopped and ate breakfast in Rochester and stopped at a Dairy Queen on the way home. The weather was great and we all enjoyed the day together. I read John Sheneman’s article in Sunday’s South Bend Tribune

about Potato Creek State Park and I fully agree with him. We also sold our property to make a state park. At that time we had a good chicken business for which we furnished fryers for stores and restaurants in the area, as we dressed about 30,000 chickens a year. We also had a nice park, which was booked up from April til the last of October where people came from everywhere to picnic gatherings and family reunions. 1 agree they have made a beautiful state park where thousands come and enjoy it each year, and the cabins are booked up year around. Why do they have to cut funds for the upkeep? I don’t understand. What is happening to all the money people pay in at the gate and to use the campgounds? No, I certainly don’t want to see that lovely park go down the drain, after having to give up my property. I want to see it mowed and kept beautiful this summer, where people can get together and have fun. Don't forget, on Thursday the Ministeral Assoc, is planning a World Day of Prayer service from 12:20 to 12:40 on the street in front of the town clerk’s office. With all the terrible things happening in our world today we certainly need to watch and pray as the Bible says. Be sure to attend. NOTICE Lot owners of Eastlawn and Westlawn Cemeteries, North Liberty, Indiana. Bulletin boards have been installed in both cemeteries with Rules and Regulations posted on them.
