TRI KAPPA NEWS The Epsilon Chi Chapter of Walkerton met for their April meeting at the home of Lori Jacob. Eighteen members were present. Final plans for the Tri Kappa Fine Arts and Crafts Festival were revealed. Members will be preparing flats for the displaying of the entries. Entries should be at the John Glenn High School no later than 9:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25 forjudging. Plans are underway for this year's Little League Stand. Tri kappa members will be signing up for evenings to work the stand at the May 7 meeting. The nominating committee reported the slate of officers. Officers will remain the same: Kim Towle, president; Valerie Wade, vice-president; Josie Snell, recording secretary; Linda Relos, treasurer; Cindy Keiper, corresponding secretary; and Annette Hefflefinger, assistant treasurer. Valerie Wade is in charge of the nine new pledges in their training. Pledge Service was held for Pam Cable, Jo Dreessen, Sandy Hartsell, Nancy Hockett, Diane Feeney, Susan Louzon, Vicki Morris, Marilyn Pugsley and Shelly Stull. The Epsilon Chi ladies will be assisting with the Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home birthday parties. Scholarship information was shared by Jill Hostetler and her committee members. Epsilon Chi will be used to honor John Glenn seniors. Geranium sales are well underway. Orders are now being taken by any Epsilon Chi member. Five colors are available: red, white, pink, verigated (pink and red) and Fuschia. Lovely, large plants will be sold for $2.00 each. These flowers will be availble the first week of May and also will be sold at the bake sale planned for Saturday, May 9, at the Farmers State Bank. Come buy some “sweets” and some “sweet smelling” flowers! Members Josie Snell and Sandy Thomas designed and crossedstitched the quilt square that will be part of the Statewide Tri Kappa Quilt. Hostesses for the evening were Lori Jacob and Ellen Miller. Following the business meeting, pledging service was conducted for the nine new pledges after which refreshments were served. The next regular meeting will be Thursday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. ♦ ♦ ♦ Zeta Pi Chapter of Tri Kappa had their inspection and dinner at Pat’s Bar in LaPaz, with Province Officer, Rita Hagenow. Our regular meeting was held at the North Liberty Community Center. Prior to the meeting we were entertained by the John Glenn Swing Choir, Rhythm Express. Reports from various committees were given. Our major fund raiser this year was a salad bar/card party with a SI,OOO Pot of Gold raffle. Our profit is approximately

$720.00 at this time. Our chapter together with the Walkerton chapter are working on details for the upcoming Fine Arts Festival to be held April 26 at the John Glenn High School. Our Community Childrens & Senior Citizen committee are planning to have the first graders from the North Liberty Elementary make and fill baskets to take to REAL Services for Easter. Our scholarship committee is busy selecting recipients of our scholarships both from the high school and North Liberty fifth and sixth grade students. May brings election of new officers, our new membership drive and the drawing of our May Basket Quilt to be held Saturday May 2nd. So if you have not bought your raffle ticket, be sure to do so. Ticket sales end April 27th.
