NORTH LIBERTY NEWS By Gladys Sheneman The quilt show was a huge success last Friday afternoon at Miller’s Merry Manor. Over thirty beautiful quilts were on display along with many beautiful afghans. Also Iva Pommert showed several dolls that she had crocheted lovely dresses for. Joan Koenig and Gladys Shenneman were in charge and told many interesting stories about the quilts. Guests were present also, who brought in quilts for the show. They were from Mishawaka, Hamlet, Winamac and Koontz Lake. It was voted to have another show next year. Over 1700 people attended the 1.0.0. F. Lodge Fish Fry on Saturday evening in Tyner. They came from everywhere and many had to stand in line for a long time before they even got inside the building, but it was sure worth the wait. Everything was delicious and the service is always great. Howard and Ruth Roush was honored Sunday at the Holiday Inn, in Plymouth, for their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. Received word Sunday evening that Harold Rust, who underwent surgery last Monday in a hospital in Indianapolis, is still in the hospital. Please remember him, as he has had two brain surgeries. Remember all you that graduated from Tyner High School that it’s time to get your reservation in for the Alumni Banquet, Saturday, on May 9. The last class to graduate, Gass of 1966, is in charge of the banquet. They have planned a delicious meal and for entertainment Johnny Keck, of Plymouth, is going to play and sing. Then you will have the privilege of seeing slides and hearing the history of Tyner by Verl Haag and Gladys Sheneman. Did you know that back in 1908 there was a terrible train wreck in Tyner and did you know that at one time it even had two saloons and a man was murdered one. Ira Kreighbaum, who ran one of the saloons, later moved his family to Koontz Lake and ran a store on the south side near the Anderson Hotel. Remember when the Polk Township Picnic was held there every August. Tyner was quite a town years ago. Come see and hear all about it. Remember the Community Good Friday Service, to be held at the
Pine Creek Church of the Brethren at 7:00 p.m., presented by the North Liberty-LaVille Ministerial Association. Plan now to attend. Roy Ward, of New Road, who was spending the winter in Florida, along with his wife Vera, suffered a heart attack last week and is in the hospital. Their address is Highland Wheels Est., 1004 Hammock Rd., Sebring, Ha. 33872. Please remember them as they were getting ready to return home. Twelve senior citizens of the Church of Christ enjoyed dinner out together Sunday at Bennett’s Restaurant, in South Bend. They then drove to Potawatomi Park where they enjoyed seeing all the beautiful flowers. Remember Thursday evening, April 16, there will be an important meeting held at the North Liberty Community Center about the Stericycle, Inc. plant wanting to locate in the Industrial Park. It is important to find out all the facts before letting them move in. Beatrice Sheneman, who has been ill in the hospital, is still undergoing tests. Please remember her. She worked for Liberty Drugs for many years. Attention boys and girls, the American Legion is again sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt at the City Park at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Plan to come and join the fun. Friday afternoon Ruth Finch and Betty McCormick visited with Lucile Lutz in the Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home in Plymouth. Marilee Anderson and Betty McCormick spent Monday afternoon visiting with Rev. and Mrs. Alva Ward and daughter, at Leiters Ford. gether this year at the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren. The fellowship was great and the dinner prepared by the women of the church was delicious as usual. There were 11 celebrating birthdays in April, two wedding anniversaries, Charlie Kaser’s 65 years and Ed Pogodzinski’s 54 years. 1 he only death reported was that of Harold Roush, of Plymouth, who was always present and did so much for the community. He is going to be greatly missed. Beatrice Sheneman was a patient in St. Joseph Medical Center and not able to be present. Gladys Sheneman, president, read a poem after Evelyn Dolph read the secretary’s report and then the pastor, Rev. Kendall Elmore, gave the noonday prayer. After that who should appear but the Easter Bunny, while Madelyn Nelson, at the piano, played “Here Comes Peter Cottontail". All had a good laugh seeing the Easter Bunny. After the dinner all went into the sanctuary where Joyce Halt was in charge of the program. She gave a poem after which Louise White played beautiful organ misic. Later Rev. Elmore joined her at the piano after which the congregation joined in singing. It was just a great day of fellowship together. Hope you all have a very Happy Easter. Use Your Seat Belts!

The meal started with appetizers of stuffed salamon with sauce and golden phyllo triangles containing feta cheese and spinach. Appetizers were followed by a creamy fresh mushroom soup. Everyone's palates were prepared for the main course with the serving of a freshly tossed epicurian vegetable salad. The main course was highlighted with a glazed stuffed pork loin, cut in generous portions, served with new potatoes and herbs, buttered green beans with cashews and homemade butterhom rolls. For dessert, a decorative “orange delight" was served. All courses were enjoyed with good conversation, and a red wine. The next scheduled meeting will be April 20th, at the home of Jay Potts. cm @2/^ JUeYEUYONE REAM A •Hr ANU USES f ,| WANT ADS L
