Evangelist John R. Van Gelden received Bachelors and Masters degrees in Bible from Bob Jones University of Greenville, South Carolina. During those years he led various evangelistic teams including two BJU ensembles and one Minuteman Evangelistic Team. As a Pastoral Intern at Hampton Park Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, he gained exclusive experience in organizing some of the outreach ministries of the church. Upon leaving Hamption Park Baptist Church, he begin a five-year ministry as assistant and associate pastor of Marquette Manor Baptist Church of Downers Grove, Illinois. Evangelist Van Gelderen has peached in revival meetings, camps, youth rallies, high school and college chapels. He is also author of various published songs, tracts and soulwinning helps. Mrs. John R. Van Gelderen (Mary Lynn) is an accomplished musician in both piano and vocal music. Her heart-stirring music ministry lifts the listener from daily stresses to focus on Jesus Christ. She also conducts lively and spiritually blessed childrens meetings. Evangelist Van Gelderen believes that America is in need of a true revival, and that the powerful preaching of God’s word is what will cause Christians to look to God for answers. Dr. Mummert Installed At N. Liberty Church Dr. J. Ronald Mummert was installed as pastor of the North Liberty Church of the Brethren during special services on April 5. Terry Hatfield, Church of the Brethren District Minister, was guest speaker. The Rev. Dr. Mummert holds a Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Philosophy from Elizabethtown, Pa. College, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Miami, Ohio University. He received his training for the pastoral ministry and recently earned a Doctorate in Ministry at Bethany Seminary, Oak Brook, 111. A native of York, Pa., Ron Mummert has been active in the ministry for 23 years. He and his wife, Connie, come to the community from Stover Memorial Church of the Brethren, Des Moines, lowa. Connie Mummert is an elementary school teacher, whose hobbies include gardenin and needlework. Her hometown is Middleton, Ohio. They are parents of a son, Shawn, a freshman at Nebraska, Wesleyan University, Lincoln, Nebraska. The Mummerts bring a wealth of experience to the church and the community. In addition to the traditional pastoral family role, they have interests beyond congregational and denominational boundaries and experience with programs such as refugee resettlement, campus ministry an Interchurch Peace Ministries. Anyone not paying their dues by the January deadline will be required to pay an additional 50 cents in order to remain a member in good standing.
