One solo and three ensembles represented John Glenn at the ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble Contest on February 29th at North Central High School in Indianapolis. Paige Edison received a first division rating on her saxophone solo. The clarinet choir, composed of Laura Bostwick, Heather Hostetler, Rahnee Patrick, Becca VanWechel, Jessica Verhaeghe and Christy Werner earned a first division rating. Second division ratings were received by the clarinet trio of Heather Hostetler, Rahnee Patrick and Becca VanWechel; and the percussion ensemble with Aimee Christensen, Jay Cotton, James Karst, Troy Kriskovsky, Rusty Peterson and Jon Strahm. DAY CARE MINISTRY TEACHERS TAKE TRAINING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES We are still growing in numbers, registering new families weekly. All of the staff has been busy getting Universal Precautions, CPR and First Aid Training. Also six went to IUSB on March 21st for an Early Childhood Conference called

Some examples of workshops we took are: Developing Self-Respon-sibility In The Young Child, Music And Drama Experiences For Kids, Children And Stress, How To Talk So Kids Will Listen, Effects Os Divorce On Children; Parents As Helpers; and many more. The keynote speaker was Professor Sara Smilansky from the University of Tel Aviv, Israel. She spoke to us on “Understanding Child’s Play And The Teacher’s Role In Supporting It”. Everyone who went felt that they had learned a lot and that it will help us do an even better job facilitating the children as they grow and learn here at our Day Care. On April 6th, we are having a speaker on how to recognize all types of Child Abuse. The talk will be from 1:00 - 2:30 at the church. Anyone interested in attendidng is welcome and should contact us to sign up. Volunteers are needed to help watch the children during this in-service and also for our field trip to Miller’s Merry Manor on April 15th. SACRED AND GOSPEL MUSIC CONCERT "Day Dawn” will present a concert of inspiration and uplifting sacred and gospel music at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 9, at the Walkerton United Methodist Church, 1000 Georgia Street. Rick and Sheila Knock have given up their jobs to travel all over the United States and Canada along with their five children, who range in age from 15 to 4 months, sharing the love of God with others through their music.
